Questions about a 382...
I found what looks to be a nice 382 for sale. I have a couple questions though (I don't want any salesman B.S.). It's a 1996 without a stepped hull. Originally, I was looking for a nice 357. I love those classic Formula lines. But, for the right deal, I'll try a 382! :p
First, with fresh HP500's, what kind of cruise speed should I expect? Top end? Assuming stock props. Second, is the head easier to use than my '90 292SR1? Is there more cabin headroom? Third, is there room for a small generator in the engine compartment? Last, is the cockpit area larger than say a 292 or 311? How about a 357? As always, thanks for your input! |

Re: Questions about a 382...
I was looking at these before I bought my 1998 fastech. Here is what I learned:
First, with fresh HP500's, what kind of cruise speed should I expect? Top end? It should be around 66-68 on GPS. Second, is the head easier to use than my '90 292SR1? Is there more cabin headroom? Yes much easier and it has 5'2" headroom. I had a 311 and the cabin in the 382 is much bigger I would guess 4-5 inches. Third, is there room for a small generator in the engine compartment? Yes they are an option on all new 382's Last, is the cockpit area larger than say a 292 or 311? How about a 357? The cockpit is much bigger than my 311. I would guess that there is about 2 foot more room behind the bolsters. By any chance is this 1996 the one that is on ebay? If so PM me becasue I almost bought that boat before I bought my 1998. I have seen the boat in person and know alot of history on the boat. Hope this helps! Don |

Head is much bigger and easier to access in a 382 compared to a 311. :D
Cabin is much larger and more headroom. Cockpit is much bigger in a 382, at least three more women can fit. :evilb: It only cost $28,000 dollars to expand my building to fit the 382, and $20,000 to upgrade to a diesel duallie to pull it with. |

Re: Questions about a 382...
Looks like my old garage, only a tad bigger! I loved to be able to stuff the Formula, the Duallie Crew and my convertible GT Mustang in the garage at the same time and still be able to move around easily! :D

I forgot to ask, wasn't a windlass an option too?
