Griz, a few thoughts. It is way too much work to switch to Bravos and the boat is not worth all the money to do that. If you went with 502 MPIs or even HP 500 EFI engines you could use the TRS's and they will live-but a little slower than the Bravo. And to be honest, the shifting with transmissions is nicer than Bravos. Also the later 311's had Bravos from the factory. My 89 has them and the engines are updated to 502 MPIs and it is a great boat. As an added bonus there is more room in the engine compartment since there are no transmissions. Mine runs 72 with stock engines and frankly, I'm not sure I want to go much faster in that hull, you have to get it pretty loose to run like that and it was not designed to run that way. In fact they run best when pretty flat, punching the waves. There are some good deals to be had, just keep looking.

Thanks for the advice insptech. That makes sense. Your setup looks great! I guess the right boat will come along.

This 292 in Lake Ozark looks nice...but not much detail in the advertisement.

Re: Change the power?

It's not a bad boat. I made an offer on it yesterday in fact. But the guy won't come off his price, with lots of scratches, grunjy drives and 660 hours it's just not worth what he needs out of it. The brokerage's commission is probably his real problem.

Re: Change the power?

I would agree with Ted, at 72 the boat was real loose but fun, its nice to run a solid 60 and pound through it.. The hull handles it well. As he said I just dont think the boat was designed to go too fast.
