Late 80's Formulas

1 Attachment(s)
I jsut wanted to take a moment to say that Formula really had their heads on straight in the late 80's

I am in the process of helping a friend look for a first boat. He is looking for a boat around the same year as my 89. Nothing we see from any other brand even comes close to what you get from formula. The fact that formula didn't use wood in the cockpit is great because I have nothing rotting as compared to everything else we see. He tells me that nothing compares to mine as far as looks and quality. Puts a big smile on my face!!!! :D I know i made the right choice!
Enough said!!! thanks for listening!!

Got to agree. Except my '89 DOES have wood behind the upholstery.

I love my old 311 too. But, make no mistake, there is a lot of wood in these old sleds. Stringers, seat bases, cockpit sole, bulkheads, etc. Just ask Offthefront about wood and rot.

The thing is, Formula built them fairly well so as not to have too many rot issues. But, issues are out there and we need to keep a keen eye out for signs of degradation so we can catch it before we have to totally rebuild the thing.

Not trying to take the wind out of your sails Dude. Just don't want you to be uninformed. You've bought the one of the best that was available at that time.

Mopower,

You originally asked the guy if he modified his windshield on his boat, the black and white one. Have a look back through the postings and then you will understand his posting. :drink:
