My friends 311 interior,it has HP500's,hydaulic steering and all gaffrig gauges, tons of other small updates. I think this interior looks way better then the stock multicolor.

That way you can find small problems before they become BIG problems  .I just fixed a small problem in my starboard engine. Water pressure was down a couple of pounds and oil temp was up about 10*. Now three weeks ago I hit a piece of wood with my LWP and instantly the presure dropped about 3 lbs. Had to pull the drive and back flush from the seawater pump back. I've gotten wood caught in there before. Too many twists and turn to negotiate.

Kept mine simple. Painted rub rail and hatches white, dropped the silent thunder box for a clean transom, installed EMI Thunder aluminum exhaust systems with Stainless Marine superflapper tips.

Plus way too many coats of wax.....:drink: :D

Re: Calling All Older Formula's

Formula Outlaw, 2 questions. One, did you sell your boat?
Two, what did you paint your rubrail with? I was thinking of changing the rubrail out in favor of white with stainless inserts. But, I heard that is a nightmare!

Re: Calling All Older Formula's

Yeah , how'd you paint the rail?? I'd like mine to be white too and that sounds a whole lot easier then replacing :evilb:

Re: Calling All Older Formula's

He used Krylon Fusion paint. Works real good to. I'm doing the rub rail on my 357 with it. First time I have used it on a boat but I have used it on the plastic gas tank of my Tecate even spilled gas on it and its still there.

Don, I just read that whole thread about your 311! WOW! Nice job!

Killer TA, you removed your rubrail and prepped and painted it?

I'm still trying to figure out how Outlaw did his. Someone said he used Krylon Fusion paint. Did he just tape it off and paint it or did he also remove the whole rubrail? Did he use a prep too?

To paint the rub rail just tape on both sides of the rail. Lightly sand to scuff. Then paint like you would any other surface. It was really easy.

Formula 1- My 311 is still in Cape Coral if you ever want to see it. Since the new owner bought it in Febuary he install all new gauges, controls, snap in carpet. It still looks like new. Next he is redoing the interior in all white with the Formula logo on the rear hatch.

I just masked it off, along with the hatches, and painted them both at the same time. I used laquer thinner to clean the rail with, and contact cleaner to clean the hatches with. Sprayed multiple light coats. It holds up surprisingly well.

yes, I used Krylon Fusion paint.

I have a verbal committment on the boat but no money has changed hands yet. I am planning on delivering the boat next Sunday and will call him tomorrow to confirm.

But as with everything, money talks. For what I'm asking for Outlaw, someone is going to have a very nice ride.....complete with rebuilt trailer with all LED lighting.

Painted the black footstep cupholder along with the handhold white, to update the look a little bit. Since both are aluminum, I just used outdrive/sterndrive primer and paint. An almost perfect color match. Also installed new cupholder with the fusion blue. :D

Painting the vents just on the outside also.

Treads, where did you get that bezeled cupholder? Did it fit exact or did you have to cut it to fit properly?

Eddie Marine online. Once I received them, I had to open up the hole in the plate slightly. Just used a dremel with a sanding barrel, and just kept going around the opening until I could get them to slide in.

Treads,

If you're thinking about doing your vents, there is some chrome engine bay vents for Formulas listed on ebay. I've bought new chrome letters off this guy, he's good to deal with!! here's the link.

Nice looking pieces, chrome and black. The vents I am painting are the forward vents (intake), they're trapezoidal in shape, just outside form the handholds at the rear seat.

Next is to remove the four hatches from the front deck. Hope this goes easy. Going to paint the outside the same white as the foot plates and handholds, but the inside of the hatches will be a grey to match the existing headliner.
