Formula 311-SR1 loud colour scheme
2 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,
Just joined the forum today, i live in the UK and own a 1991 311-SR1. This model is very rare in the UK. It was imported new in 1991 from Florida. Has anyone seen a colour scheme quite as bright as this one? www.offshoreonly.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=226036&stc=1 http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/a...d=226035&stc=1 |
Re: Formula 311-SR1 loud colour scheme
That's a fairly common color scheme except for the yellow. I think most used a different color in that position but I have seen this scheme too. Formulas are nice boats and built very well....(I have 2 right now). Since the interior is 15 years old redo it with something more to your liking, it probably needs it anyway.

Blitz,
Good looking Formula. I own a 91 292 SR-1 with the same scheme. My understanding is that this is unique to the 35th anniversary year of the company. I haven't seen any others here in the Chesapeake the same. |

Hey,
Your 292 looks sweet. Are you running 454s? That's interesting about it celebrating the 35th anniversary, i didnt know that. I've got 502MAG motors on carbs, they sound really sweet but are really thirsty on gas. bearing in mind i pay over 60p a litre which is over $4 a gallon so it is pretty expensive to run but i enjoy it. I just bust a shaft on my starboard drive so that's why it's out the water. :o( looking to fit drive showers to my Bravos. Do you know a good place to buy a pair in the US? It's crap where i live to get it repaired, i've been waiting a month...bad time of year, everybody is on holiday and loadsa boats have problems!! some more pics. |

Yeah fuel prices are harsh, it doesn't look to be getting any better, a friend of mine said to me today that they are putting up oil prices AGAIN.... when will it stop?!!!! I'd really like a new 06/07 model Formula with one of their wicked graphics packages...unfortunately my bank account wont allow. i'm 26, still got a few more years hard graft till i get my ultimate Formula!!! |
Re: Formula 311-SR1 loud colour scheme
Blitz,
I have the 502's also, and that was a special order upgrade (I still have the original order and delivery ticket). Look at the emblem on the side of your boat, just behind the "292 SR-1" and inside the badge you will see the "35th Anniversary". I just put 2 new Bravo's on the stearn this spring. I have one complete w/730 hours on it for sale if you want. I don't know what the shipping is to the UK, but we could find out. I just filled up this Saturday and put Premium in for $3.49 a gallon. A little bette than what your paying. But as t500hps said above, its gone up quite a bit. Still not stopping me from running though. Let me know about the drive. |

A friend of mine has a '91 242LS , same colors different disign on the side of the hull. Warmed over HP500 at 535hp and 509 Cu.in.
I've told him a number of times the interior reminds me of a bubble gum machine with the flashy colors. I like it myself. |

Not bad for just being a year. Put new EMI Thunder exhaust on this spring with stainless short pipes. Really lets the engines breathe better. Also, cut 3-1/2" holes in the underside of the silent thunder swim platform, in line with the exhaust ports, to relieve some of the backpressure in the box. It also really lets the sound of the exhaust out too. :D

mopower,
Tell your friend he has excellent taste. :drink: Maybe I'll run into him somewhere on the Chesapeake. The color scheme is one of the major reasons I bought this boat, because I had not seen any others around. The fact that she has 502's was an added benefit  :D |
Re: Formula 311-SR1 loud colour scheme
Your boat looks nice, obviously well looked after, yeah you dont see many 502s in the 29!!
Do you run offshore from the mainland?? I live in a group of islands and the water can get really choppy, we get all the swell from the atlantic running west to east coupled with massive tides, in the summer it's not so bad but spring/autumn time is when the white horses come out and that really tests the formula!! I should get the formula factory to come and test their new boats here!!! :D |

Blitz,
Don't get out into the ocean, even though insurance allows. Can't even begin to think what fule would cost to get to Ocean City by running, and I don't have/use a trailer, boatel kept. Mopower, thinking of going to Georgetown on the Sassafras this Saturday. A little sun, swimming and :drink: of course. |
