272 SR-1: Red, white or blue?

3 Attachment(s)
Besides the different colors, they're all different in terms of condition. The white one is a major project boat (cockpit interior and engine work). The blue one (best looking hull color ever, in my opinion) has been repowered (300hp SBCs), is pretty clean, but it isn't perfect, yet he's asking a "perfect condition" price. The red one is coming out to be the best overall value (still waiting on sea test and in-person viewing) considering it's got one new motor, one new outdrive, and a very good trailer (shows it's age but still a good trailer).
I'm hesitiant to share prices but what the heck:
Blue $25k, 1986
Red $16k , 1985 (yep, seen the hull number)
White $12k, 1988 (no trailer, needs engine & drive installed)

I'm looking for a turnkey boat, but if I could make a sweetheart deal on the project, I'd consider it. Please share your thoughts.
Thanks,
Michael

Oh, and then there's the 292 for $25k with lots of goodies, trailer not included. The Miami Vice colors do nothing for me though and gas prices haven't come down quite far enough to want the big blocks.
Thanks,
Michael

Heh...yeah I suppose so...

But I'm not looking to poker run or race anybody. Down here I'll probably do a whole lot of canal cruising and sandbar hopping.

for the money your going to spend on the blue one, get in touch with Formula Outlaw and by his boat. Great deal waiting to be had.

Re: 272 SR-1: Red, white or blue?

I wouldn't spend that on the blue one.
Yeah, Outlaw is an unbeatable bargain. Unfortunately, it's over the top of my price range, doesn't have a swim platform (Very important), too big for my storage, and have I mentioned I don't want big blocks?
If I want big power-to-weight, I'd go with Vortec 6000s or Merc 6.2s in a 272. 750+HP out of "stock" motors should push that hull pretty well don't ya' think?
Other than recommending big blocks, can I at least count on some help once I bring one of these home? This is a great place with tons of insight and experience. This has been my dream boat since I was in high school, and I can finally bring one home. :D
Thanks,
Michael

Take it from some one that has been doing a project get the boat that is in the best condition. What ever you think that it needs there will be twice as much.
