Re: windsheild 382
Didn't that boat used to have one?
|
Re: windsheild 382
Kevin, you are right,Plumber's boat had a w/s,Fred at Trick swapped the fairing from our 04 Poker Run 382 to it. Here is an opportunity for a 382 owner to get a factory fairing,no more will be made, only about 6 were produced. Robert

Re: windsheild 382
Wondered how long this would take. Felt the same with the fairing on my 382 Poker Run Special. Fortunately, I was able to buy a used windshield for a very reasonable price. Good luck!

Re: windsheild 382
That was alot of work only to bringit back to it's original equipment. Too much wind?
|
Re: windsheild 382
Yes too much wind,I made some nice wind deflectors which help out alot.On certain days(headwinds) it will start to anoy me other than that I can live with the screen.Hopefully I can find a windsheild and keep it on standby,I will probably sell the boat and move into something else.Unfortunately i have no idea what!!! This formula has been the best boat i have owned so far.I figured it would end the discussion of oh nice boat but I want a windsheild or vice versa. But honestly for the coin I may not bother.Anyone know who makes them for formula?????

Re: windsheild 382
I heard that the windshield is not that much better with regards to wind??Duke tell me??
|
Re: windsheild 382
I am 6`1" tall and if I move the floor to the bottom and drop the seat out at 50 mph I could smoke behind the windshield.
|
Re: windsheild 382
Really? It doesnt look like it would be any better, when you see people running them they look like there hair is blowing straight back.thanks for posting.
|
Re: windsheild 382
I heard that it's pretty windy with the windscreen but I have no first hand experience. I would think it will be pretty expensive to switch back.. You have a great looking boat!

Re: windsheild 382
I've had my 382 for about 6 weeks. Even with the glass the wind still gets you. I think it's because the glass lays back so far that it doesn't provide any lift to the air. When I had my 312 I bought some windaways (windaway.com???) and they worked great. Use them on the 382 and will never run without them again!!!!

Re: windsheild 382
LOL.....I thought it looked better with the original windshield. :D :D The windshield is better than just a faring. Are you kidding? With the faring, the wind is smack in your face! With the windshield....well....it's not!
Besides...it looks classic Formula baby! :drink: :drink: :drink: |
Re: windsheild 382
I believe Taylor Made Products makes the windshields .... I talked to them at the Miami Boat show and they said just to call em up and they can tell you right away whats available ..... MagicFloat might have more info....m

I've had both. The windshield is much better than the fairing. Wind is 100% in your face with the fairing, just gets the top of your head with the windshield. |
Re: windsheild 382
This guy has some Taylor Made ...shot in the dark but worth looking into .....m

Re: windsheild 382
Trip,
Where did you get your windshield and what did it cost you? Was it difficult to replace? I have a 382 and I am considering a ss frame. Thanks, JB |

Re: windsheild 382
We had a shattered port side on a tie up @ Glencove Formula Rendezvous LOTO. What a nightmare.. :evilb: you would'nt believe the glass slivers everywhere. Thanks to selpel @ the event, he aranged a shop vac & drop cord etc . so I could clean up... main thing - no one hurt! 4-6 weeks to make a replacement! Enter Glencove Marine - for some reason a port side SS panel was sitting in their storage rack (less the top frame - small detail to become larger detail later). Simply take mine off switch top frames and reinstall..no problem for a plumber that knows too much - right? Wrong. Ended up having Glencove finish it for me. Lost 4 weeks, but hey it could of been 6.
Port panel $1200. Riding with friends priceless :drink: hey - I did say thanks, did'nt I Selpel. The whole thing intact should be no problem! :drink: |
Re: windsheild 382
Hey Guys, I have knowen Trips2win for a lotta years and his love of Formula cannot be matched(unless by me) and no one takes more pride in their boat then him and his wife. He took the broken windsheild in stride(at least in public) and still enjoyed the event. I think I will start a post asking people just how many Formula`s they and their kin have owned to date. What do you think?
