Updated the dash in my 336

It's still a work in progress, as I'm waiting for the new fuel gauge sender before I can replace the fuel gauge, and I am now going to powder coat at least the drive/tab panel. I did the main panel in white as a trial, but now it's grown on me and I think I'll keep it. It is such a great upgrade, and wasn't TOO time intensive. I used the Livorsi waterproof series, and to avoid cutting up the wiring harness I found some male terminals to mount to the provided studs on the rear of the gauges.

I'm still trying to decide whether to change the tachs, because I don't want to lose the hours on the engines, but it's such an improvement that I think I'll bite the bullet and do it anyway.

Before & after....

Did you make it yourself? What's it made of?

I used the stock Formula panel (it's aluminum). The hardest part was enlarging the holes for the gauges....

Just a note, if you order your tachs direct from Livorsi, they can Pre-set the tachs with your specified hours already on them. Also try a drill mounted sanding drum to enlarge the holes...it has worked good for me in the past.

I did the white as a test, and I wasn't sure whether I was going to like it or not, but I do so next is doing the rest of the panels. I think it might help to tie it in better by doing a black pinstripe around the border...

Go to Trick Marine for the gauges...can't beat the prices. They have the gauge bezels in just about any color, and I bought several to try, but with the Flashpoint graphics the blue is the clear choice.

In case I didn't make it clear before, the Formula wiring harness is set up using 1/4" push on terminals, while most aftermarket gauges are set up for ring lugs. I solved that by using 1/4" male tabs mounted to the back of the terminals on the gauges.

Also, if I were going to do it again I would take the panel to a machine shop and have them enlarge the 2" gauge holes (they need to be 2 1/16").

Very nice Barry. I hope to do mine too. Take some more pics if you get a chance. I'll look for it at BWJs for Formula Friday?
