I'm not a prop guy, but I think they need a little more info than that!

86 242ls twin sbc est. 300hp per side alpha drives. is a four blade hydomotive even an option? or should I keep the stern planted?

Try a 23 mirage if you need more RPM go to a 21 mirage. Once you find the right RPM then if want a four blade is is usually 1 pitch lower. the best thing is trial props before buying. What do you run right now for props?

currently I am running 23p quicksilver choppers that came with the boat. I guess my big question is will this style hull bennefit more from a stern lifting prop?

would like to see better cruise speed and maybe a couple more on top if it can be done. big thing would be a faster cruise at a lower rpm even at cruise or idle 4bucks a gallon adds up quick. cant keep hiding the bank statements from the wife forever.

my boat came with 23 cleavers as well. I do not like the performance at all. 5000@50 GPS. 3100 cruise 38 GPS. Pulled in to the ramp put on the 23 mirages BAM [email protected] GPS 3100 cruise 42 GPS. I myself need to go to a 21 mirage to get more RPM as 4200 is too low but the performance gain and overall feel of the boat is MUCH better with the Mirage VS the cleaver. Now i have heard of some folks with formulas liking the stearn lifting Hydromotive prop. But most of us are either running a three blade mirage( bow lifter) or a 4 blade Bravo prop (bow lifter) I am not a prop guy by no means, but i hope i helped ya with the experience i have had with my boat :)

thanks for the info. I have heard alot about mirage props blowing out easily. have you had any issues like that?

23p Mirages should be easy to come by, although you've probably got two right rotation drives? Should be able to find a pair just to install and see what happens.
I've got a 311, so different boat, but I'll be trying a set of Hydromotive's Q-IV X props this week. I'm no expert either, but I'd hazzard a guess that with twins in your 24, a stern-lifting prop may be an improvement.
Thanks,
Michael
