Has anyone installed a procharger or a blower on a 271?? If so what were the gains and the problems? :rolleyes:

I know a gentlman that has a 502 in a 271 with a whipple that runs i believe high 70's for speed.

I think CayFormula is running a 272SR1 thats blown, runs over 90MPH on GPS and lookin' for more :D :D

We put a whipple on a 502 mag in a 271 and it runs 78 gps. :cool:

Was that a step bottom? What outdrive gears and prop size did you run? Exhaust?

On Speedwake there is a regular that has a stepped 271 with a whippled 502. Try contacting him..."Rattlesnake Jake". I think he sees upper 70's as well.

I have a 1998 271 with a naturally aspirated 540ci 675Hp rebuilt from the pan up HP500. It runs 80 on the GPS. It's still no rocket out of the hole but midrange and top end accelleration is great. The hull can handle the speed. These boats take a while to get on plane and that stresses the drive. You'll need to put a 2006 model XR on the boat to handle the extra torque and HP. Hey, you'll never win a drag race but you can't beat the ride and with the extra HP 80 MPH feel nice.
