Glad I got the 311
without transmissions that is :)
The last couple weeks I replaced an impeller and cooling hoses, now I'm struggling with a gosh darn fuel pump and fuel line. I knew the pump was looking bad so I had ordered one but I didn't realize the metal fuel line to the carb was actually going to be the problem. Put it in the water last Sunday to test the impeller work and noticed a leak that turned out to be fuel. I couldn't get either end of the fuel line fittings loose so I ended up having the cut the line near the carb, and twisting the pump off down low. Nobody local had the hard line so I ended up finding a guy on Wednesday afternoon to bend a replacement (pre-flared & fitted brake line). I thought I was home free for this weekend but now the dang thing leaks at the carb inlet. I'm done with metal lines. I'm hitting the local auto performance shops for some AN fittings and socketless hose. Sorry for the rant, but I wouldn't have been able to do any of this work myself if it wasn't for the room in the engine compartment. I've got long legs but I'm still skinny enough to sit down in there and wiggle my way into a decent position. I'm pissed right now that my fuel line fix didn't work, but I'll have one helluva feeling of accomplishment when it's back in the water :D My new props are collecting dust dang it! Thanks, Michael |
Re: Glad I got the 311
It happened to me also once, but make sure what you put in there is approved by your insurance. They don't play much with fuel stuff...

Re: Glad I got the 311
I hear you Jeff. Above and beyond the ins co, I've got nothing but respect for both fire and electricity and I don't want any problems, specially from MY work.
So today my old man came up and wrapped some teflon tape on the fitting and that fixed it. I hate it when he does that :D So I took him out to see some big water: 8-10 footers. He wasn't thrilled, but we both enjoyed the 311's ride. I still can't believe this thing is mine... Thanks, Michael |
