Market Value

I am contemplating the purchase of a '98 353 that reportedly has less than 50 hours on each motor. I haven't seen the boat yet, but understand it is in great condition, only used in freshwater and is probably pretty basic. Strange deal, but to make a long story short, does anyone have some idea on current market value? I would appreciate any thoughts.

Re: Market Value

motors and options wil make a big difference in value. 50 hrs since new, or 50 since rebuilds?

Sorry guys.....HP500's, Bravo Drives and I've been told 50 hours since new. Hardly ever used. Again, I haven't seen it to know for certain. Again, I believe it is a basic model that doesn't have a lot of options.

Mine is a '99 and no bailing.....upgrades maybe!

1998 with a good trailer, depending on the engine upgrades, total hours on the hull, condition of the vessel and options, could be anywhere between $75-$100k.

Should there be any concerns of it having sat somewhere for years on end? 9 years old and 50 total hours is amazing. If it were EFI I'd take a look. Rip, Axa's still tryin' to get to 50 hours  .....I'm sure his upgrade program is strictly for reliability......."But, Gail, the engines breathe easier with big honkin' blowers on top.......you and your friends can sunbathe between the scoops......" :D

5PM,
I think 50 hours "on the engines" not the hull. I'm at 78 hours or so last season...surpassed the 50 hour mark after the 3rd pull! :D

I don't think I'll need scoops with the.....oppsss...Ahh, never mind! :D

And go for extended vacations to quaint points of interest during the rebuild periods. Blowers give you much more "BANG" when they chit, therefore more down time for the things you really want to do.

When computing the hours on an engine one starts when it is first fired up, either new or rebuilt. You can not go back several rebuilds and total the hours run throughout all of the rebuilds and take credit for those hours in your curent total. We understand that you would like to do this in this case Senator, but we just can not allow you to inflate your hours in this manner. Rules are rules.

I think Ragged is right. Rebuilds restart the clock. :p
