I do too! Great family boat. Lots of storage, and room for 5...

Jeff 32 -Whoa! That's a sweet paint job! Do you play in the 1000 Islands area? Went to the PRA deal in Kingston on a friends boat. What cool play ground.

Downtown42 02-13-2007 09:22 AM

Looks great. My friend has an x-clean 88 357 in red and it shines. He also sells Black Thunders on the side.

MOERON 02-13-2007 10:31 AM

I bet that paint job was alot of $$$$$! Looks great.

Boomer 880 02-13-2007 10:40 AM

I really like how these 20 year boats still look great. Formula's lines/styling really holds well over the years.

I would love to get into a 357. :evilb: There's one for sale at my marina, fresh power, new cockpit interior, cabin is spotless. But since dumping so much into the 292 last year, :( I can't bring myself to taking the hit I would have to in order to move up, and then upgrade that. Already working on the 34 PC i just bought last september. Hopefully in another 2 years I can move the 292 and go 357.

Great paint jeff.

jeff32 02-13-2007 11:02 PM

the paint scheme comes from the 97 or 98 model year... unfortunatly (unlike my last boat) I did not paint it myself I bought it like that! But it does look nice. It is painted with very little air brush...

Thanks guys!

did not go last year but planning to go back this year. Let's keep in touch if ever you go also!

MOERON 02-14-2007 06:53 AM

Jeff,

Do you have any interior pics?

runafever 02-14-2007 02:23 PM

357s rule. I also love the lines of the 311s. Great old school lines and great ruff water boats. I dig em!

jeff32 02-15-2007 07:47 PM

you just made me realize by looking at my pictures in my computer that I have absolutely no pictures of the interior!

I guess I'll have to wait till spring to post these kind of pictures... sorry!

Prater 02-18-2007 12:34 AM

I also have a 357. I hope to get her out more this year. Still a bit of TLC to take care off though...

Prater where have you been? It's been a while! By the way what pitch were your prop?

Prater 02-18-2007 08:59 AM

Jeff,

I have been on the road a lot. I am just north of DC right now for a conference this week.

I still have another three to four weeks on the road and then I can get started on the repairs from vandals that happened in December. Kids cut the cover and made a clubhouse out of the cabin.

The props are 26pitch. As soon as it warms up I am going to pull the sunpad hatch off and do a leakdown on the motors. If they pass then I will pull the belts and pulleys and fix a bad oil leak from the front seal, if they fail both motors are coming out to be freshened a bit.

I just hope there is enough water this year to enjoy the lakes close to home...

wildthing357 02-18-2007 10:03 AM

Steven, how did the cover work out for you?

Jim

Prater 02-19-2007 08:54 AM

Jim,

The ice should be thawed off the boat when i get back home. I have been on the road and not able to try it out yet. The temp repair was holding up so I left it alone instead of trying to remove a frozen cover.

I'd love to get a bunch of these old tubs together on the Detroit river if there were interest.

jeff32 02-23-2007 12:57 PM

where is this detroit river ?

flyby 02-25-2007 07:39 PM

The Detroit river flows from Lake St Clair between Detroit and Windsor and dumps into Lake Erie.

jeff32 02-25-2007 08:29 PM

10 hours from me...not too bad.

amazing1 04-04-2007 08:26 PM

hello pratta I just purchased a 87 357 sr-1 you mentioned you are running 26p props. What HP are you running?

Prater 04-04-2007 09:22 PM

The motors are sumewher in the 600-650HP range. I just sent the props to Throttle Up for inspection and to fix a cuple of small dings that were in them when I purchased the boat.

I probably wont make it out much this year due to work but trying to do some improvements. I have pulled the carpet out of the cabin and will be pulling the floor to make some repairs. It still has water entering the cabin. The only place I have left to seal is the windshield. Hopefully that will do the trick.

I also need to redo the rear hatch and rear seat The wood has started to rot and I want to install a couple of scoops to let the engines breath. Besides, the back deck sits on top of the engines when it is down.

Here are a couple of scoops that I picked up locally from an OSO member. I also owe another member a bottle of Gentleman Jack... :)

I am in Missourri right now for a few weeks then I have to leave for Pittsburgh. i dont think I will ever get anything done. I do need to get the scoops painted to match the red on my boat.

I had a 1987 357. Had it for 5 years and had the most fun on it out of all the boats since then.

I'll see if I can find a picture to post.
