Hyd. Steering Reservoir?
1 Attachment(s)
Ok, I'm making progress. I found this motor pic of a boat on sale at TNT. If you notice the hyd. steering reservoir on the starboard engine steering pump... with an unreadable blue name label printed on it. This is exactly what I need. Anyone recognize or know where to get one?

That label is Latham.

Thanks Rippem

why do you need one? I have never used one, the pump body itself is plenty of res.
I installed twin engine Imco full hyd, 1 pump on one engine, and didn't use one... no issues at all in 6 years. There is not one on my 353 though both pumps are plumbed together for more capacity even though only starboard is driven. If you have a non-driven pump on the other engine just plumb it in and use it for more capacity and save some coin? and/or you can use any res with a pressure cap as long as it's above the driven pump and just run a line with 90* fitting into the pump cap. |

I've considered all that Rippem. No second pump though. With the current config it would be tough to hang an external reservoir without extensive plumbing and keeping it above the pump. This Latham thangy seems very efficient and simple. Hopefully a simple price. I may just try removing existing thang and going with the pump reservoir if I can't find one. Here's a picture of what I'm dealing with now. I bought this boat off a farmer, can you tell?

that's fascinating
my only concern was that I have never seen that Latham piece shown in the first pic and being shown on an older boat (at least 502EFI old) have concern it's long discontinued? |

Isn't it. If it wasn't going to be such a mess to pull it off it would be in the trash. :p |
steering
rippem is right about the lable but be very careful they are bad about leaking i have one i removed from my boat that i never could stop from leaking.
|
Yup, they quit making them. Probably due to leakage. Talked to them today. I guess I'll take it off see if it works without one. If not I'll have to do a cap plumbed to a reservoir I guess. Thanks for all the input and especially the label recognition.
