112 volt power supply

I have a Kenwood marine stereo system installed in our boathouse. Need a reliable 110 volt transformer to power it . Used to use discarded plug in chargers from old 12 volt items, but they don't last long and don't supply quite enough amps. Last year I just hooked to a spare marine battery that I keep there for emergencies, and just charge it occasionally. Got to be a better way, something I can plug in to house current AC and step down to 12 volt DC. My local Radio Shack was no help.BTW,just noticed I said 112 volt in the title,I obviously meant 110 volt, but don't know how to edit a title:cool:

Robert,

My brother in Cleveland is a wizard with electronics. I will check with him and let you know his recommendations.

You need an AC/DC power supply and wire it in! Depending upon the power of the stereo......which I'm guessing isn't "ThisIsTank" size.....it shouldnt' be that big of a deal.

Probably a unit like this might work. You just have to wire it in.

I'm pretty low tech, only 10 amps. My el cheapo plug in units would work until I crank up the volume. Most of them are only 1 or 2 amp, just to keep the batteries in cell phones and other junk charged, not really designed to run a stereo.

That one I showed pumps 20 amps. Should be good enough to dance to.
