I have a 340 Vyper. It's an extremely well built boat compared to most, rides well, is fast, and has amentities that are hard to find in the 33-34 range of boats. It has the largest headroom in the cabin of any mid 30' boat and if outfitted well, you would be hard pressed to beat the bang for the buck.

I don't have a Formula but do know that they ride extremely well because they have a lot of weight. That factor can mean that speed is reduced with the same power. The headroom on the cabin is no comparison to the PQ but they are very well built boats.

Both are great choices in my opinion. The Formula is better well known and thus resale may be higher depending on many factors while the PQ offers you more solid boat from a top notch manufacturer for the money.

Hope this helps.

BTW, as an example my 2002 runs 80 with 496HO's in best conditions and a solid 78 in any condition. I beleive the boat handles very well. Any boat in the 33-34' range does have an issue with the center of gravity in relation to length so it is possible to "feel" more of the environment than a 38'.

I owned an early production 99 Vyper with 500hp's that was for lack of a better discription a slug to plane, I was told by the P/Q southeastern rep that they made modifications to the step shortly after my boat was made which was supposed to improve the planing issue. As far as quality, the boat was fantastic and had great cabin space/headroom, as far as resale, I'd say that that would probably be off due to P/Q financial issues, and the lack of a decent dealer network.
But what do I know...Just an opinion.
