382 K plane length

I was reading with interest the thread here on the 271 with kplanes. It made me think about a thought I had last year that I might as well ask now.

I've seen several Cigarettes of approximately 38' lenght that have kplanes that appear to be over 2 feet long. I'm wondering if anyone has tried longer kplanes on the 382 and what result it had. It seems to me that longer planes would allow running less down angle with the same results in rough water and possibly less drag as a benefit. Anyone know?

Thanks,
Garrett

I assume you had the 280 plates and are swapping them for 380 plates. Where did you get them....and do they have any more!!!

BTW: I may end up on the Chick/James this weekend, will you be out or in the area?

We are also planning on upgrading to the 380 tabs this summer. The 700 powered poker run boat has them

They can hurt. Depending on the boat you can get a LOT of added drag. We put them on our race boat (30 foot Superboat) and lost about 5mph top end even with them all the way up.

Be very careful with the big tabs. They move quick and can catch you off guard sometimes. If you know what you are doing,no problem, but some owners will get in trouble with these tabs. Please take my comments in the proper context, they will work for some, but I have some customers that do NOT need bigger tabs:cool:
