got some done today, not enough hours...working around the house too.
subs are in the panel. It's heavy now!
little clamps reducing in size as the wires drop off going across, holes drilled for the ss screws and little ss flat washers that hold 'em...on the backside done.
I drilled and chamfered 3 more holes in the center where there were 2 screws securing the bottom of the panel to the liner at the "tank rise"...now there are a total of 5 bigger ones across the center bottom.
also added 2 screws each side under the Infinity's. These go into the piece of thick star-board that the battery door hinges are attached to that are screwed down to the liner.
trying to "tighten-up" and additionally secure this panel as much as possible.
didn't do much else with it today. Just worked on the backseat panel.
and shoveled (twice) about a ton-and-a-half of dirt.
It has crossed my mind to just get one more pair of these Kickers for the "six pack"
I think three 8 ohm paralleled on a channel= 2.7 ohms? RMS would be well over 200 per channel and the little guys are max 200......
problem is where to put the 6.5" speakers?
and the question is...with the tweeters do I need them? I think I do for the mid-bass and vocals of hard rock.

these are the $3 mudflap replacements. The black material is cheaper.
and yea, you guessed it once again I made them myself.
you cannot buy anything off-the-shelf long/wide enough that keeps the truck from getting chipped up. Especially with a 9" wide rim and real tires. The ones you can buy are a joke.
The store bought are just too short to protect the truck from even the cheesy OE rolling stock.
That's what you have isn't it?
bad pics as the truck is dirty and inside.

Make sure you get a FM modulated unit that has the antenna adaptor that goes in lin with the head unit or the reception WILL suck. I have an FM unit in my truck and had to order the in-line adaptor. The unit is only in the middle of my console less than 36" from my antenna! Just a thought, most units have a plug for an antenna extender!

I have only have 4 6x9's in my bench seat and even they tend to work the screws loose after a while.

I'll bring my silver sharpie to the bay and we can add some bowties to them $3 flaps. I personally like the low profile of my 16s

easy enough to take off the tank access panel and through bolt all five of those center positions. and be done with it. Still considering that as of today.
If I keep getting into these new "little" upgrade projects along the way, I'll never get it done.
Every one of these little things takes 10 times more time to science out and execute nicely that it appears at first glance.

Rip,
You got me into the stereo upgrade mode so I went out for lunch and picked me one up for the boat. I tried to get one as big as yours, but couldn't find one. This will have to do. I was wondering if you'd help me install it. You were right about the white, I couldn't find one either!

and as far as the thru-bolting of the entire panel? Consider it done.Tank access panel off. Holes are enlarged and all SS cap screws, washers and nyloc nuts now in stock...
I'm glad I started on this when I did!
