Cabin fuel smell

Ran the generator and AC quite a bit and noticed a heavy gasoline odor in the cabin-Never had it before. Checked the engine compartment and it smelled fine, didn't see any leaks. Any ideas?

when I had a gas odor in the cabin...it WAS a leak. a loose swivel fitting on a pump dripping fuel.

couldn't really smell it in the bilge either. The fumes of the raw fuel rise up forward in the hull under the floor + you get it stronger cause there's not always air moving thru the cabin.

been there, done that!

track it down brutha'

 Probably in the new lines I ran for the FloScans. I'll get a closer look at them this week.

This is the first i'm hearing about this product. Should i be looking to install flowscans? if so, what type are the best...

I don't think you can go wrong with the FloScans. They're right up there with the best. I installed mine where my speedometer was. Make sure you install a prefilter before the meters. Here's a link to their site. I have the FloScan TwinScan.

Here's the model you probably need: http://www.floscan.com/html/blue/ser...sid=14&catid=2

Duke .. what was the result of this ?? m

When I reinstalled the FloScan there was a fitting that was leaking. I had a hard time finding it because it was such a small leak.

Thanks Duke .... I Guess if it was a small enough leak at a fitting the gas would evaporate fast enough not to drip but would emit the Fumes ...Everything from the tank to the carbs is new AN type fittings and hose ... I bet thats where my problem is ... Matter of fact I noticed one of the fittings that had pipe thread on one end ... the Teflon Tape has turned a yellow color which would indicate a leak .. I feel better .... was dreading a new tank !!! m

Glad to hear that. It doesn't take much as you mentioned. I am changing my plumbing out from the rubber hose with clamps to these types of fittings.
