Formula Cruiser BBQ Question
 

I have a 370SS and want to get a BBQ for it.

I went to buy a BBQ today and could not make up my mind. I went to West Marine and looked at the 3 different Magma models (2 round, 1 rectangle). I came up with the conclusion that there isn't many rails on the boat so I would have to have some additional hardware installed to hold the BBQ. I dont want to put a rod holder or other mounts into the boat. There is also only 1 place to do so if I decided to do that.

I then thought that the Weber Baby Q would be good and just place it on the counter in the cockpit when cooking, however I thought the smoke from the grill would be trapped if I had the bimini out when cooking. What I liked about the Weber is that you dont have to get all the mounting stuff and then have full bags for it to keep it in so the boat doesn't get dirty.

The Magma models have bags as well, but it doesn't seem as nice as the Weber set up.

What is everyone else using for their set up? I am really particular about my stuff. I detail my boat every time before I take it out, and it drives me nuts if something makes it dirty. This is why I thought doing a Magma that could hang over the side would be the ticket, but then I have the hardware issue again.

I bought a Magma 10 years ago and it still works (and looks) as good as new. With a big cruiser I'd really consider the type that sit on a table stand right in the middle of the cockpit floor. The rail mounts that hang over the side don't seem strong enough when your looking a $200 plus for the grill and tonights DINNER!!!

Do you have an extended swimplatform on your boat?

Yes.

I was thinking you could use an ATTWOOD - 019_570_001_544(as pictured) as a base with a 2 inch aluminum or stainless steel pipe. Where I placed the X(see attach drawing) is the logical place to install it, out of the way but still easy access.
