Need advice trimming 353
We've had our 353 for 6-8 wks, up till last weekend Lake Mich has been calm and no issues running. Last weekend we ran north into 2-4's w/ occasionial larger. Worst trouble I had running into waves, was with boat leaning to port or starboard. Today choppy 2-3 a little snotty. Again leaning one way then the other. As I tried to adjust, made it worse as often as better.
How much do you guys use your tabs. Do you drag tabs to pop up on plain? If I'm leaning to one side would you adjust drives or tabs. What positions do you like to run drives, tabs. Full gas tank, lots of coolers, overnight gear both last weekend & today. I've had boats for 15 years, this is my first step hull. Thanks. |
Ok, I now understand, to bring port side down,I need to raise port tab or drag starbd. I was thinking reverse, so that should help alot.
Anything 353 specific you guys can contribute will be appreciated! |
also dont keep your fresh water tank 100% full for some reason the boats run better

mine rides better/softer in all conditions with 100+ gallons of fuel aboard, and is not significantly slower.
EDIT: in fact my boat has consistently posted it's highest GPS speeds with a full fuel tank...74 and change on several occasions... coincedence? or is it my HO boats' powerband and the relationship of the steps to the water with the load in the belly and the top end drive trim I run when the boat is heavy with fuel? |
