Nav lights too dimm

Last season I lost the rubber boot that covers the receptacle for the stern light on out fastec. Now I have noticed that the stern light does not light up as bright as it should. And now it seems that the bow nav light is not as bright as it should be, especially the green side. Is this probably due to corrosion building up in the stern receptacle?? Any one else have this occur?

Check your grounds?

No, not yet. I need to relace the stern light base any way because of the missing boot. If that doesn't cure the problem then the grounds are going to be next. If my memory serves me well there is a grounding block just above the port side battery in the engine compartment. I should probably be checking for lose stuff as the water keeps getting rougher on our lake. Thank you for the input

You may be able to call Formula and get wire diagrams from them.

Sounds Like Corrosion has built up in the stern light and is shorted (slightly) from positive to gnd ... that will pull the voltage down ... any lights on the same circuit will dim ..clean or replace the recepticle ...m

Thank you for all the input. I have a new stern light base from my local formula dealer & I'm heading down tonight to install it . Hopefully this will be the cure. At least I enjoy working on the boat!

Did it work?

Well I had no luck in replacing both the stern light base & the bow light. The grounds behind the gauge panel & at the rocker switch were all tight. I had already tried a different stern light pole. It seems that the bow light is getting too much voltage & the stern is not getting enough. So I'm going to leave it up to a marine mechanic to figure it out.
