292 Fastech props

I would like to hear from 292 Fastech owners that are running different props than the standard props from Formula.
What props and engines are you running ?
Top speed ?
General comments about the props compared to the standard props ?

I run my boat at 5000 ft of elevation so I have to run 24's to get the thing on plane. I don't see more than 62mph up here and that's with after market imco headers added on. Cannot believe what elevation can do to the performance of a boat! I have tried 26 labbed props at lower elevation and traded for the 28's that come with the boat. From what I've tried they work the best at or slightly above sealevel. Hope that helps.
Thanks-Nick

Propeller Comparison

I am also searching for the right set up for this boat. I have a 2005 with 6.2's. The boat came with 28 inch Bravo I's. They slipped so badly that I bought a set of stock 26 inch Bravo I's. I also had the 28's "cupped" to see if it would help. Anyway, I recently did a comparison and here are the results.

Good info Godacious!
The reason I am asking is that I plan to get a new set of props for next season, and being located in Denmark it is not so easy to borrow and try different props.
I currently run the standard 28 Bravo Ones (non labbed) that came with the boat orginally from Formula in 2002. The engines have been replaced with Scorpions, so I hope to run 29" or 30" props. I have just read about really poor midrange performance from labbed props, and that concerns me.
I currently have great acceleration, great mid range speed (app. 40 MPH at app. 3000-3100 RPM) but top speed is suffering. Have only been out twice with a GPS though, so I haven't got so much data yet. The speedo is way too happy to trust. I run my 292 fairly fuel heavy, because there is no place to refuel at the dock, so I have to carry the gas.
Hoping for some standard props that work well. May be Hydromotive ? Or may be labbed 29" Bravo One.

Hope to hear from more people.

I set-up an Excel spreadsheet to calculate slip %. Here are my numbers. 2006 292 with 6.2's, fresh water at 400' elevation. Labbed 28 pitch Bravo's.

I think your numbers look good. Sounds like the props are working fine for you.

Still would be fun to hear from someone who have tried Hydromotives or other types of props with good success.

Anybody that are using Hydromotive props on the 292 Fastech ?

I had Julie from throttle up propellers run my numbers in key west. Was told unless I can get more power out of the motors keep the props I have,Which are 28 four blades

This is probabaly a stupid question but does anyone rent props? I'm planning to test my 292 with new power next week and have no idea what props I'll end up running with. It sure would be nice to be able to rent a couple of sets.

Alot of different companies will let you try a set of " demo" props. If you don't have someone local to work with, I'm sure you could work out something where you could try props and just pick up the shipping costs. Not really a cheap alternative, though.
