353 FASTech vs. Sport

Since a friend has a Formula I have been looking at them more here and there...
What is the difference between the 2 models other than I see that you can option up too a 600SCi package on the FASTech, but if both had lets say 496Mag HO's.

Magicfloat can answer it best but the sport can only be ordered with 496's. Robert can add hydraulic steering, K-planes, etc but those are options on the sport model. Compared to the same boat with 525's in the "regular" 353 I think it was around a $75K difference for the blue motors.

Only difference is most of the std stuff is optional on the Sport. Load up a Sport with Lathum steering, footrests, etc, and it is really no longer a Sport, just a 353 with 496's.Boats are the same. Tho Lathum steering isn't listed as an option,it is available.A loaded Sport is way less money than a std 353 with 496's,but it is really the same rig, just saves a ton of $.If you want a 353 with 496's load up a Sport and keep some cash.HO's will GPS 75-76.

I will vouch for what Magicfloat said. I have a 2006 353 sport, which I spec'd out myself........74.5 on GPS saved about 17K over a "regular" 353.........build one yourself on the FORMULA website and you will see the price and equipment differences :signs069: ERIC

Are you gonna be on the water the weekend of the OPA race?
I would like to see your sport as I have an 03 loaded with 500"s just curious about the difference. Stop by the pits if you can we will have the 29 fountain out to race that weekend. Or as one other referenced me Formula,Fountain,Donzi or is it a Bayliner. It is all the above except for bayliner.
Stop by if your in the area Have a Beer!

Donzilla, I will not be in the area at that time. Thankyou for the invite for the beer!! If I can answer any questions about the Sport, I would be happy to......Eric

353 sport

i just bought a 06 353 sport, it has 28p non lab props on it now. my question is if i have them labed what kind of differance would i see? thanks

t500hps 09-10-2007 09:51 PM

I hate it when you do that Robert.......

The boat should get 200-300 more RPM's if they just thin the blades. This should increase speed slightly. It also makes them weaker if you hit a stick/etc in the water while running.

sidetracked 09-10-2007 10:12 PM

what if i have them balanced? is that something that should be done? or should i go with a set of 26p to get the rpm's up? i read that the 353 with 496ho 425hp should push this boat in the low 70's. but im running 67mph @ 4600rpm's. this boat does have gen and a/c but that wouldnt make the speed drop that much? thanks for your help

Magicfloat 09-10-2007 10:31 PM

Side, interesting that your Sport has gen and air, only a couple were built that way. That will scruff off a little speed. The 496 boats we have sold use 28 non labbed and Gps low to mid 70's at 4900-5000 rpm's.67 doesn't sound quite right, but I don't know all the details.Did you buy it used or new from a dealer?
