2001 312 Fastech handling problems?

Does anyone have a false sense of security when driving there
312 Fastech? I have this uneasy feeling when I drive my 312,
like its about to roll and or bounces all over the place. Or could
it be that I'm not use to the step hull design yet! Any thoughts
or ideals on what I can try?

Thanks

I'd say it's the stepped hull. It takes some getting used to. First time I ever drove Axa's 353 it was kind of wierd. But, it is just different, not wierd.

Mine was stable under 70...after that it felt real loose on the water. If the props are spinning in try changing them to spin out.

yes it is kind of loose, I think the main reason it feels diff, is the lack of bow lift on the 312's, it can get a little scary, it gets better with seat time, how long have you had it ?

Since September 2006

Picked it up with 160 hours, it looked like it just came from the
factory.

Sounds like a trim issue to me. You are either over trimming or under trimming. Not enough and it will bow steer. Too much and you will loosen it up too much.

I changed my prop rotation this year to spin in and it helped with the bow steer, but I am running a 353 with 5 blade Maximus props. It created more bow lift and the feels PERFECT now. Although you do give some up around the dock. A little getting used to it and it's not too bad.

Try a few different trim positions and see which performs best and which handles best. Go slow with the trim, it can be a very small sweet spot that you are searching for!

What kind on water/ conditions give you the most problem. How do you like to trim it out & set tabs when you are underway?

On flat water she goes like hell and easy to handle!

On wide chop she's a *****! Large rollers 2 to 3 plus waves real bad. In real tight chop, solid and even kind of fun and managable. I've tried all types of settings with the trim tabs
and drives. Some days I win and some days I lose.
