Formula 330 SS- underpowered with 6.2s?

Hello all,

We have been looking to move up into a Formula and with the wife wanting a cruiser have been considering a 330SS. Found a clean one at a decent price but it has the 6.2's instead of 496's. Does anyone else have one powered like this and are they happy with these motors? Appreciate anyone's input.

Thanks,
Rich

had those in a 32 sunsation dominator, ran 70. but those same engine in a 330 ? I know it's a cruiser, but I'd be effraid it's underpowered... test drive before!

If you are looking for 60 mph it will not make you happy. But if you want to run 30 to 55 mph it will run fine. And please guys the 330SS is NOT a cruiser, it is a family day boat. Formulas PC or Yachts are cruisers.

well if it runs up to 55 it's pretty impressive! what ever speed it does, I'd still test drive it to make sure it feels and drive different than the real cruiser... actuaaly, just not underpowered...

When I bought mine I had the same choice to make. They were making me a great deal on an in stock 330ss with the small blocks. I searched on the internet and found two boat tests. One with the small blocks and another with big blocks. The most telling thing to me was that the big blocks burned less fuel at cruise. To me that says the small blocks are working alot harder and possibly would not last as long. I opted for big blocks.
