That's insane. Why spend that much Bird when a couple empty 12 packs and a roll of duct tape could float your arse. |

Well, it's not like I'm trying to sound cheap, but that's just stupid. That much coin for two life jackets, c'mon!! Ya know, you can make anything, charge way-stupid amounts for it, and some bozo will buy it just because it IS expensive. |
Lifeline jackets are $300 each from Trick without any customization.....I agree that is crazy but Lifeline jackets are a different breed!
|
They may be a different breed, but they look the exact same as any other jacket..and in this case, cheaper...The only reason why they can sell them for $300 is b/c idiots with a ton of money buy em for that! no offense

Lifelines have much higher impact ratings than any other jacket out there....something like 150mph......I figure all my limbs will be ripped off if I hit the water at that speed so who cares if the jacket comes apart too.

God help you if you call Lifeline to the mat on the General Forum...
What makes up the impact rating? Is it that they have crotch straps? Just how different can the foam be, it's not like it's rocket science or anything. Anybody that can sew a bimini can add crotch straps to a jacket. Glad my boat tops out at 65, and I rarely run more than 40-50mph. Doesn't matter whether you spend $30 or $300, if it doesn't work, you won't be around to b!tch at the manufacturer :D |

I think the impact rating is more to save your ribs and such, if you slam up against the dash, not the impact rating like ski vests that are rated not to come apart hitting at speeds. I think my vests are rated at 55 mph.

The impact rating has to do with the speed, in theory, that you can hit / impact the water and the vest will stay intact and not tear off. Race style Lifelines are far different than the ones offered here. I have some very nice recreational vests I bought from Cabellas years ago to use when doing poker runs, 100 mph rating, full front zipper, three 2 1/2" wide chest straps that go full 360 around the vest, double crotch straps and a fairly substantial neck roll collar. Picked up five of these about ten years ago, if I remember they were about 79 - 89 dollars each. |

If you are racing you spend the bucks for the real Lifeline Racing Vests, they don't really give you a choice. These here are a recreational version, cool for a Formula owner, but not Racing quality. If you want to play in style, be prepared to pay and smile. :D |

That sounds like an Axa-Quote!!
I believe the term would be an Axaonym or perhaps an Axaology. ( second "a" being silent of course in both cases ) |
