1995 Formula 271 454/385hp how fast??

I have a 95 with a 502 mpi (415 hp). The motor has about 40 hours on it with IMCO exhaust, no silent thunder box, and a water pump crossover. The drive has 1:36 gears spinning a 4 blade 22. On a good day with a tail wind and no beer, half a tank of gas and two to three people it will run 60-61 trimmed out holding your mouth just right.

271 Formulas w/454s are not one of Formulas better examples of a performance boat:(. My guess would be upper 50's and a really bad holeshot particularly with the 1.36 gears.

is your blade lab finish ( more speed ) find someone in your area who does fiber glass work get the bottom blue printed . that sharpens up your bottom end which means less drag and( more speed ) 3 to 4 mph just on blue printing alone. prices very on blue prints so make SURE YOU CAN TRUST THE PEOPLE you get to do the job . I DID IT TO MY 271 AND PICK UP 3.7 MPH

Nice boats but not exactly fast,,,60 if your real lucky and hold your mouth just right.

I BAGE TO DIFFER MINE BEFORE I LOST AN INJECTOR an it punch a hole in the piston was a 63.3 gps 502ci with power flow exhaust 1.5 drive and then blue printed i pick up 3.7 more. these are all fresh water speeds .

My point exactly, 63.3 with a 502 and a blueprinted bottom, so with a 454/385 you can expect upper 50's to about 60 in ideal conditions. Pay attention to the thread before you bage?(beg) to differ.

please re read my email wich is above yours it states 63.3 before blue print and then 3.7 more after all has change after my repower but that is another story . the 271 is now over 77.8 gps .and growing 540ci

I still boils down to 63mph with a 502,,,with the 454/385 package, 60 is probably real.

PROBILY I JUST GET P / O WHEN I THINK SOMEONE PICKS ON THE BOATS WE LOVE ! SHOULD HAVE MENTION MINE IS A1.5 gear ratio. still looking for that magic bullet number, on my own hope to be 81 to 83 gps . ANYWAY HAVE A BIG OLD HOLIDAY SEASON. it's warming up here 36 today short fuse no boating L.O.L
