Insurance

$2,500/year a decent price for a 2005 382 with an October-March layup in the Midwest?

With whom? Try giving Sy Goldberg with Total Dollar a call? Although he couldn't help me due to my age, he has helped out many, specializes in performance power boats.

dukenrock 02-11-2008 02:11 PM

It's currently with a highly reputable insurance company. Up for renewal and just wanted to see if it's in line with todays rates.

Splitdecision271 02-11-2008 02:22 PM

I would definately shop around. I could give you a few names of a few that I tried. I ended going with progressive. Only one's who would write me due to my age. Sy won't BS you, he'll give it to you straight, he'll tell you to look else where or to stay where you are, that is of course he can't help you.

Actually, I think it's a pretty good rate. I believe I'm paying $2,800.00 with Markel. I'd be interested in knowing who you're currently with and if you get a better rate, who you went with.

I pay 1800 with travelers in Mass for a 04 382 with 525's. and last year I had a total loss.

It is Markel. If it's in the ballpark I'll just keep them. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't out of line.4800 deductable on the boat, 250 deduct on personal property and trailer, layup from 10/15-3/15, 1000HP rating, Great Lakes including St Lawrence River, inland lakes. Moored at private home. $2500/year.

Check State Farm just for the heck of it. 5PM bought his 353 last year and they gave him a great rate...I have my vehicles with them, so I called and got a similar rate ($1000 annual).

Before that I was with Progressive for around $1200.

State farm has my 2002 382. 75 mph is their limit and the agent may have to kiss some butt to get you written......I'm paying abouyt $1,200/ yr. Hope you never have a claim with Progressive. A buddy had a total loss with them and took 2 years getting it settled.

I know my boat is not worth near yours or axa's or t500 but I agree with axa and 500 I shopped around and State farm was the best by 20% or so, its the only thing I have insured with them everything else I own is through american family
