What the hell is under the seats??

This has bugged me since the day I bought the boat.

I've got a 1996 271 SR1... What is under the two cabin seats? Why the hell dont they come off?

I've got the set up where stb side has a longer couch (4 ft or so) and the port side has a shorter one behind the sink. (3 ft or so)

Has anyone taken them off?

I need to get under the cushions this spring to install brackets for a filler cusion between the two couches...

I have an 02 292, my one seat about 3 foot long was loose when I purchased it. Nothing special was under mine. Fiberglass and wires for the speakers. It also had the water line for the cabin sink running under it. That's about it. Need some self tapping screws I guess to reinstall.

Its funny you bring this up my old 242 was the same way bothered the hack outta me, guess what, the new ones are the same also, I always thought that could be easily turned into some storage, but if Formula hasn't done it yet I just figured they had a reason

Probably a collection of loose screws....... :D

I've had the seats off in both a 312 and my 382. There really isn't much space under there. Kinda surprised since I expected to be able to put stuff under there. As typical Formula, the stringers that are under there are huge and take up most of that room. If you open it up don't expect to put more than a couple dock lines under each side.

so its pretty safe to put a couple screws into the sides (vertical part going form floor to cushions) of the couches?

Maybe this can be done with out having to take the seats off.

That vertical piece that is carpeted your refering to is the stringers of the boat running forward. They are about 2 1/2 inches thick. Yes, you can screw something into them without issue. Screws...nothing so large you need a drill!!!

That would be funny!!

Little do you know how this project is going to go down...

I'll have you come over to help....By help I mean do it while I drink beer and watch...Then we'll go to the jiggly room!!!

Might as well figure on "helping" me put the drive shower on too.

Oh, I'll throw a few steaks on the grill while we're at it...

Maybe also keep the screws at least several inches up form the floor.
