93 formula 271 sr1 x dimension and prop

I have just recently purchased a 93 271 sr1 that i am redoing. The original setup was a single 502 mag efi. the x dimension is very conservative with the propshaft centerline between 7 1/2" to 8" below keel.

I am reglassing the transom and and installing a 700hp supercharged bbc. I need to raise the x dim. but do not know how far to go with it. Formula says i should be able to raise it without any negative CG changes. Bob Teague said I could raise it, but he would rather me change the lower to a shorty and keep the engine low, but he had never worked on this boat before. That is not in my budget

does anyone have any experience in this hull and how high to raise the x dim? also, what 4 blade prop is the best for the added x dim? What speeds should i be able to hold with that power(what kind of prop slip could i achieve.) Any help would be greatly appreciated

I dont know dimentions, but I have a 271 fastech with a 600 hp innovation and I get about 75, kinda dissapointed.
I run a 26 b-1 and sometimes a 28b-1 both non labbed

I WOULD GO WITH WHAT B. Teague has said I have put on a 1" shorty and have pick up damm good speed wish I went with a 2" i do'nt under stand your putting good money out on a b/b and a supercharger but a few more and you got a shorty if your lower is ok turn around and sell it to off the cost of the shorty , for a prop ask julie at blades give her all your information motor,hp [etc] they will get back to you good luck.:evilb::cool-smiley-027:

I have a 93 271 502 EFI with a 1.5 B1 and 22 prop. did the 700 hp set up require you to brace the transom with the reglass, or was the old one trashed? As far as x-dim, I wonder if your goal is high end speed or driveability?

the original 2" raise required a new transom. subsequently, we raised it another 3" with a standoff box/rise combo and replaced the engine with a 850 hp naturally aspirated bbc.

after testing a lot of props and setups, this was the best I could have ever expected out of this boat. It is unbelievable.

the boat tracks perfectly, runs flawlessly, in any condition, any speed, period.

I ran it in the texoma high roller poker run his year and outran most of the fleet, including one of my friends 2010 cigarrette top gun with twin 600's. It ran 89 mph (gps) fairly easily and we ran it over 80 for very long periods with no problems
