Just bought a 95 271 SR1 Indy 500 today!!!!

My first offshore powerboat--I think I did good on getting what everyone is calling the Rolls-Royce of Boat manufacturers and to top that off-- I just heard that there were only 20 of these ever made?? Could anyone confirm that for me-- I bought it before I even knew it was rare: New 502, new gelcoat & graphics(I know they removed the old indy graphics and did more of an updated "checkered-flag swooshed" on the sides) -- It really looks awesome--the boat is in very very excellent condition--sweet for a 95--I looked for 3 months and nothing touched this one--& especially the price--I think I stole it!! I'm stoked!!!!!

Congrats.

I cant confirm for fact but when I bought mine I did some research...I was told that they made 5/yr for about 4 or 5 years so 20 or so sounds about right.

Did it come with the FormulaOne optional metal office bin in the back of the engine compartment?

271-SR1-INDY500 04-21-2008 11:16 PM

Got it for $22k

I'm new here so i will post pic's very soon when I learn how.
my F-271 SR1 Indy 500 is #4 of the production list and looks like it was very well cared for besides getting a new 502 with EMI exhaust and I feel like it was a steal because I have original receipts in the last year totalling just over $21000.00 in the last year!! Including the new 502 with the EMI Thunder exhuast kit. I can't stop smiling about the deal!

I tried to upload pic's and I ended up putting them on LEOPA Thunderfest 2007 ??? I wanted to put them under my profile but-not sure what's happening?? anyone can help would be great, thanks

was that for real or are you just jabbin' me?

FormulaOne 04-23-2008 09:03 AM

Infortunately, it is for real.

The stb. side of the engine compartment has a ton of empty space. I thought I'd make good use of the space by screwing in a metal (heat resistant) file crate for storing crap...Cockpit cover, life jackets, etc....

It seemed like a good idea until J-Bonz and ThrillSeeker had to crawl around the bilge to help me fix something.

....Its actually at jab at my accountant engineered storage compartment. All they did was bich about it and ended up using it as a place to throw all our empty beer cans while working.

If you still have the big colorful embroided decal on the sun pad, keep an eye on the stitching, they tear, Ask FormulaOne... he will tell ya.

Knot 4 Me 04-23-2008 12:41 PM

I looked at one of these back in 2002. Almost bought it. It was a '95 with a 502 MAG. Had mini K-planes on it. The original graphics are pretty busy as is the big Indy logo on the sunpad. The motor in this boat was also painted purple. At the time, the price was $40K on an Eagle trailer. Ended up not pulling the trigger due to the boat not being able to plane very well with 4 guys in it and it had a pretty slow top end. Boat had an older standard, non-Plus Mirage prop on it so I'm not sure if it just wasn't propped right or if the motor was tired. Anyway, nice find and congrats!

congrats! i picked one up myself last year. # 7 is mine. great boat. just got done rebuilding the motor in mine. tops out about 65 or so right now with a 26 bravo 4 blade.

yup! Or it may have been the fact that a 250 pound friend was stepping all over it during his bachelor party...I think that is where it began tearing...

Congrats! You gotta love Formulas.

sunpad

my sunpad was replaced at some time with a plain white one--looks better in my opinion. Although this is #4 Indy 500 edition, the original graphics have been replaced with a nicer up-to-date checkered flag swoosh which also I believe makes it look a lot newer and doesn't "date" it so much. This was done when they gave it a new gelcoat, it really looks great, once again my biased opinion. Hope my pics posted, thanks
