I don't get it. Why would you need to trim the drives when standing in the water?

For me it would be used when the boat is on the trailer, like the other day when I was taking the boat for a full mooring cover to be made. The drives were down, and I wasn't comfortable with the ground to skeg clearance, so in order to raise them up I had to uncover the boat, turn on the batteries, and keys, just to trim up the drives. A real pain in the a$$.

I have several reasons why I have the swithces there...One, while in the water, I only want the drives up as far as they have to be, so I can adjust them for depth from the water.

Second, while on the trailer, the drives should always be stored down, makes it alot easier to get drives down rather then crawl up in the boat. Second, it is much easier to clean back there with the drives down, so the drives can be adjusted for cleaning transom without crawling in/out of the boat. Do your own maintanence?? Checnge your drive lube and instead of climbing in the boat or walking to the front of the trailer to adjust trailer level to raise/lower the drives...


It is all about convenience!!:D For 100 bucks for 2 switches and less the an hours time to install, I will take the convenience...once you have them, you will never be with out them!:D

i like your idea of the black in the center of the engine hatch. that way you won't have to worry about telling your friends they can't wear their work boots on board:D

all of the above and at the beach I can manipulate them to keep the skegs out of the sand and yet as low as possible to not be underfoot when I want to be in as shallow as possible especially calm days when I can have the keel at the transom in 8-10" of water with no worries.
No running back and forth to look from the helm...no climbing in and out of the boat to accomodate the conditions of the moment.

can't be beat for cleaning.

I manipulate the drive trim some for a reboarding step after a quick swim instead of deploying the ladder.

Where did you buy this trim switch, and who is the manufacturer, I definatly want one.

I buy from Bill at Diamond Performance. I belive he is an advertiser here, but I met him from SW. You will need 2 of them and if you mount them side by side like I did then one of the harnesses will need to be extended, but very simple, just use waterproof crimp connectors and shrink tubing. other then that, plug and play. Mercury makes the switches. Also, get a little resin to brush in the holes that you drill and some silicone sealant for the scew holes too. Very easy and worth the less then 100 bucks for the 2 switches!!

That's the scheme that goes with the Gold #3 scheme in Stealth Red, correct? It's a great-looking and dramatic color scheme, but I see some burned hineys coming on sunny days!!! :eek:
