Fuel consumption and speed 292 fastech

How are the 292's with a pair of 6.2's on fuel? does the fastec hull really help with fuel compared to the older true v's?
Also whats the top speed?

Myself and the wife have been discussion selling the Cat and going back to a formula. and the 292 is the biggest that will fit in our slip. My current boat is 30' Eliminator dayton cat with twin 496's and it surprisingly good on fuel. I like to cruise at 50-55mph and it tops out at just over 90. I know the 292 wont do that but what am I looking at here?

Check boattest dot com. They have speed vs. fuel burn for the 292 with 350 mags. I think the fuel burn at any given speed with the 6.2's should be very comparable....maybe even a little better.

I think 70 mph is a fairly common top speed, for a 292 Fastech ,with 6.2's The fuel consumption is always relative to how you drive it. I do like my 292, but will admit, there are a few things that I miss about my old Daytona.

My goal is to end up with the Formula and a smaller daytona. 26-27'. but that is a lil way away. i may just keep the 30 daytona and wait for a steal of a deal on another boat. just looking at options.

QWKRN U - Bradman may be selling his 292 shortly. I've been on it at just over 70 mph

At 4000 rpm 25 gal per hour
4500 33
5000 43
5120 49
These numbers are from Formula and I would say they are pretty accurate.Mine might be for sale at the end of the season if I can move my lift to a bigger slip.It is really a great boat for what it is but I want to go bigger

What I have been doing is filling up 2 five gallon cans on land and dumping them into my 292 on Friday night. Saving me a few bucks from filling up on the water. That basically lasts me the weekend. I drive anywhere from 6 to 12 miles in the range of 3000 to 4000 RPM, about 30-55 MPH with the occasionaly WOT burst. Come Sunday my guage is close to where it was on Friday before the cans went in. I have been running half tanks for the majority of the season. The guage definately moves towards the E much easier when the needle is below 1/2 then when it's above it.

According to my SmartCraft SC5000, 1.8 mpg is the average fuel mileage running 40-50 mph. This is with 28 pitch labbed Bravo 4-blades. Top speed is 70 mph in normal conditions. Have seen a best of 71.5 mph.
