271 Fastech what prop works best

I want to know what prop works best on the Fastech 271 hull
running a 502 with 1:65 ratio 26 pitch B-1 puts me at 60.8 on gps turning 5000 rpm, would a 5 blade work better ?

I've tried a few different props. I tried a 5 blade which helped a lot out of the hole but gave too much stern lift and I lost top end. When all was said and done, I sold them all and went back to the 4 blade Bravo. It seemed to be the best all around prop for my 99 271 hull. I also have the 1.65 LH rotation drive.

I have a non stepped hull and 28p 4blade bravo. doesn't come out of the hole for S*** but, I dont mind. I got a little more power than stock and seen 79mph not trimmed. Still getting used to the boat. Maybe nexted time out i'll trim it to the moon and see of we can get to the low 80's

mj2562, just curious, what kind of power do you have to run 79, and possibly "low 80s" in a 271 SR1?

I have been testing props with Bblades this summer and this is what i found out. My boat is a 2000 271 fastech. Stock 502 mpi with 1.65 ratio Bravo outdrive. All speeds are on my GPS speedo..... 24 pitch Bravo 1 4 blade [email protected] Pitch Bravo 1 4blade [email protected] pitch Maximus 5 blade 59GPS@4900.... I have now ordered a slightly modified 26 pitch Bravo 1 which will hopefully get me to the 5100 RPM and a couple more MPH. I will let you know when we are completly done and what turns out. The 5 blade maximus DID NOT help the boat come on plane any faster and the prop still blew out just like a 4 blade. Jeff Wurl

Thanks Jeff, please keep me posted, as my results are very close to the same as yours, what are you doing to the 26 ??

jwurl 08-18-2008 07:49 PM

I don't know exactly what they will do to the prop, but what I thought i heard is this. .Bblades will be cutting down the blades to get the RPM to 5100 and adding a little more cup. Brett said it should get up to 2-3 additional mph.Jeff Wurl

Jeff -

Any results from the bblades modified prop yet?

jwurl 10-05-2008 08:58 PM

I have been running a stock 28 pitch 4 blade Bravo 1 and getting 65 GPS at 4850RPM . I got 64 GPS with my 26 pitch 4 blade Bravo 1 at 5100RPM. I finally sent the 28 to B blades last week, but i will not get it back in time to try it before I winterize the end of the month. Brett tells me expect 3 miles an hour more out of his labbing service on the 28 running 5100RPM. I do not see any noticable difference in planing time with any of my props. 24-26-28. I believe the maximus 5 blade was the slowest to plane. All these speeds are with a close to full tank of gas. 70-100 gallons of fuel. Jeff Wurl
