Boat shut off while driving??

Hey guys:

Saturday I was out on my boat and after about 30 minutes of driving around the lake all of a sudden it just shut off while driving about 40 mph. I lifted the hatch and there was a small amount of smoke coming for the exhaust headers. It would not crank over at all. I got towed in by the state police which is always embarrassing! Anyway the next morning I went out there and she started right up however the oil pressure was bouncing between 6-8 on the gauge. This seemed a little high but I honestly don't recall what it normally runs at when its cold.

Any advice?? Maybe the ignition coil went?

When you turned the key did the starter even click? If not, the kill switch may be acting up. I assume 6-8 is just a number on a gauge and not psi.

If it is PSI there is trouble.
