Props on stepped hulled 271

What props, motors, peak RPM's, and lower unit ratios are you runnin? How is the speed, hole shots and handling.

I currently am running a Bravo1 24p The prop that came with the boat (repitched to 23p, extra cup added and thinned),
500EFI,
1.50 ratio, 5400RPM max, typically around 5200RPM
69.99999mph (can't seem to break 70 on GPS),
slow hole shot but good handling (no cavitation in the turns)

This is on a 1999 271 Fastech. I am looking to change props or have more work done on the BRavo 1, just wanted to get others experieince. Anyone running Hydromotives?

Thanks Bill:confused: :)

Bill a labbed 24 pitch bravo should take you above 70. I had a 2001 271 that would run around 71. I added a sternjack and picked up over mph and ended up running a 28 labbed bravo and turning it 5400. All speeds were gps of course:cool:

What did you think of the Stern Jack, I have heard mixed reviews on it.

I have hit over 70, highest was 71.4, on special ocansions, when the sun and moon lines up with the planets etc, but it has been very rare. Seems I can run 68-69 all day with nearly any load and in any water condition, but geting past the 70 mark has been tough.

After all that, sounds like you liked the Bravo best, did you test any other props?

Thanks
