hatch ram

well, went to install my hatch ram today and its WAY too short. I had to make the mounting brackets, but at full extension I think my hatch would be up about 6 inches. Does anyone have any pics of theirs and how its mounted? plus the dimensions on it? thanks

How far forward on the hatch is your mounting bracket? I don't have exact dimensions, but I know it needs to be closer to the transom than the headrest. Crap, I can't post my picture since it's not hosted anywhere, but looking at mine I'd say it's only 10-12 inches from the back of the hatch. A wild guess tells me the actuator is probably 18 inches. It's been waaay too long since I practiced analytic geometry, but those dimensions would probably give you a fully open hatch.

thats about where mine is located. my ram is only 13 inches + the motor, so 16 or 17 closed and 30 or so open. Definitely the incorrect ram. I'm guessing the 18" ram is what I need, but was curious what stock ram length was. My other option is to make a tall bracket to reach down to the ram. Not sure if I need another project or just buy a new ram. thanks for the quick response.

I have a 12" ram on my sr1 and it is mounted in the center of the hatch dead center between the motors
