New to me Formula

Hi Folks,
I just purchased a 1995 271 sr1, 502, BRAVO 3
It is in mint condition and has 2006 aluminum trailer .
I have not seen the boat in person yet, it is being shipped and will be here Friday/Saturday this week.
Yes, I had the boat checked before purchase.

I can't wait..

Is the 1995 model considered a fastec, I think the fastec started in 1997 maybe.

Anyone want to share there experience with this model...
Seems like a twin prop Bravo 3 is an odd drive option as well

nice boat! any int shots? I have a 93, and love it with the bravo 3 you should get outta the hole better then the b~1 but I've been told you lose some top end, great all around boat and handles the water extremely well

The 271 Fastech is a step hull and I can't see a step on the picture so I don't think your boat is a Fastech.
I also think the Fastech was introduced later but I don't know which year.

If there is a step it should be a Fastech, but I can't see a step in the picture in the first message in this thread (could be there though).

looks the same to me.
just noticed the one in that pic is a 1997 [red and white]

First of all, congrats on the purchase. Looks like a great boat. But you answered your own question - your '95 is a SR-1 (flat bottom) since the FASTech (step bottom) didn't come out until '97.

The big block with duo prop should provide great acceleration and mid-range cruise performance.

thanx for looking and the feedback,
sounds like it's not a fastech and the bravo 3 may be a good drive for the boat.
just talked to the freight dudes, they are picking it up tonight for about a 1000 mile tow,
be here Thursday, hopefully in one piece....

yes your boat is not a fastech, as stated above they came out in 97, I have only gotten 58 outta mine on gps, my prop needs to be cleaned up and it either needs to be cupped out to a plus or I need to get a mirage plus and then see, sounds like from differant people it should be going 61

nsformula 09-08-2008 08:06 PM

I would happy with 60 on mine, I'll tell you after the weekend,
boat will be here on Thursday..
got any pics of yours?

88242LS 09-08-2008 08:28 PM

FRMULTR 09-09-2008 07:17 AM

Pony up some cash, we want pictures.:p

jkelly 09-09-2008 11:33 AM

I used to have a 92' 271 with a 502 ci, 415 hp, a bravo 1 outdrive. gps speed was 61.9, with under a half tank of gas and two people on board in fresh water. It was a great boat! Enjoy the fit and finish of one of the finest production boats manufactured.

nsformula 09-09-2008 12:49 PM

Put em on photobucket and post the links using the insert image icon in our menu ,
I posted the picture above with a copy/paste the url from the sellers ad.

Did your 27 show up today?
I love the color.
Lets see some pics.

nsformula 09-12-2008 04:04 PM

Took delivery Wednesday a.m. I'll post some pics on weekend

Cosmetically perfect ,not a mark anywhere, hull, interior,
engine looks like new. Trailer perfect. very happy.
Put in the ocean for trial Wed evening.
Flashed right up.
My last boat was a 24 Arriva bowrider, 454 and bravo 1, not a bad old rig, but showing it's age, hench the upgrade.
First BIG observation is how well the Bravo 3, twin prop moves the boat around the dock, launch, trailer etc, dramatic
difference to me.
2ND Deal, silent thunder is LOUD on a 502, as loud as the 454 with open pipes. definitely gonna add silent choice or similar.
also gotta add closed cooling as I will be in salt water half the time.
Next, boat is a dream to run but I find it rolls side to side more than expected for 27ft. It's got Bennett tabs, but no indicators so its hard to tell where they are at, so I just put em full up till i fiqure how they work.

Holeshot and midrange are excellant with b3, got to 55mph but it was rough so didn't push past that for now.

Couple of issues though...
The lower carpet in the cuddy is wet[on delivery] and didn't dry out in 2 days, could be water from rain in the shipping.
small amount of clear water in the bilge too
When running on the hose/muffs on the trailer to flush salt
water there is water coming out between the silent choice box and the hull. I don't think that's meant to be...
Any one know what's up with that. I would have thought the water would come the exhaust opening, must be a seal or something loose or leaking, could be leaking back into the bilge as well when running.

Also, my truck is 2wd so I was worried about pulling up the launch, but the trailer is oversize for the boat and the back wheels of the truck are not even in the water, cool on this ramp, but some of the lake ramps I go to, might be an issue, we'll see.

Give me some feedback on the silent choice water leak.
I'll post some pics soon.

Dave

88242LS 09-12-2008 04:14 PM

my 271 tends to lean to the pass side all the time don't no why, yes the 502 rumbles nice my mid range is great also, as far as water coming out the seals yes the rubber seal could be wourn out first make sure its tight, also when trailering always make sure the plugs are out of the platform when trailering so the water drains out of the platform or else the water could back into the motor when you stop causeing problems, I leave mine out all the time,

88242LS 09-12-2008 04:16 PM

in case you don't know look at the bottom of platform you will see the holes I'm talking about maybe the plus arent even in there, when you put it in the water you can plug them holes causing the platform to fill up with more water and it will quiet it a little bit more

nsformula 09-12-2008 04:23 PM

platform, you mean the silent choice box?

88242LS 09-12-2008 05:10 PM

yup
