303 Question
how fast with either power 454's or 502's, NO I am not buying well at least in the near future :party-smiley-004:but me and a freind were talking and I was curious what these boats get for speed
|
My 303 has 454 Mags (360hp ea. stock) that have been massaged with Barry Grant carbs, Barry Grant electric fuel pumps, Gil exhaust, MSD ignition, and the timing has been bumped a bit. I am spinning labbed Mercury Racing 4-blades. The boat will run every bit of mid-70s with 100gals of fuel without breaking a sweat. The previous owner said his personal best was 79mph on GPS. I personally am still learning the boat, but honestly I bet with a light load in the right conditions the boat could break 80mph. I have no idea what the boat would top out at in stock form.
There is another 303 on my lake with stock fuel injected 502s. The owner was friends with the gentleman I bought my boat from and he told me that my boat would "run away" from his. I do not know what his top speed is.......73-74 maybe?? Hope this helps. |
My 92 has later model 454 mags 385hp - with 25 3 blades, I'm right at 70mph.

My previous 1993 303 with Stock 502 Mag carbed, labbed 3 blades....72mph.

96', 502's, labbed props, 1/2 tank of fuel, 300 # cargo, 75mph. I am sure I can get between 76-78 out of it.

I almost bought a '93 with carburated 502's. It went 72 on the demo ride. I found my 311 before I made an offer on the 303 - a little older (88) and slower (65) but a lot more room.
