Engine Compartment/Bilge Paint

Hey Guys It's getting that time to pull the old motor and do the prep work before I install the new roller-motor. I was wondering what everyone thinks is the best way to paint/prep my compartment. I hear Alwgrip is good. Don't they make several kinds of paint. I would prefer to do a scuff job and then use a one-step paint. Im not quite sure what color. I was thinking either white or a gray. I want something low maint. but yet clean. Should I go with a flat,semi-gloss or gloss. I think a semi-gloss would be best. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpfull.

I am not familiar with the paint you are speaking of. I have used West Marine Bilge-coat in a light grey color. It worked well & is a good color for the Formula bay. Unfortunately, the manufacturer discontinued the light grey so now (unless you find a dealer with some in stock like I did) you must mix dark grey & white together! This is not really a problem as you will probably need two or more quarts anyway. I used two quarts in a 252SS & put down 3 coats. I scraped loose Formula paint, rotary brushed it , wire brushed it, scraped it again, then washed with a high detergent soap twice & then wiped it down with acetone.
Yeh, this was an easy job!! Like heck it was!!:D But the end result was worth it. Bright & easy to clean.:D
