I got a call from Biggus the other day and he told me about this boat. It was so cheap that I could not say no. Even the wife was behind it!! It needs a pair of drives and some other small things but over all it is going to clean up super nice I think. Power are 420hp 454's all stock. We put fuel to it and it started on the first revolution of the motor and ran like it had just been in use yesterday. I hope it holds together for the season at leaste with out to much trouble.

As you can see from the pictures it was a dirty scow. I did a quick clean and I think all the dirt preserved the paint under it. :D Look at the dash picture to see what I mean. Quick whipe down and it was good as new.

Nice looking ride. Youd don't look old enough to drive a boat!

FRMULTR 04-12-2009 07:57 AM

Looks like you found a diamond in the rough. Throw a little cash at it, add in a little elbow grease, and its as good as new. Good luck with it. :drink:

Nice ride Jon!!

Audiofn 04-12-2009 08:03 PM

Thanks guys I am very excited to get back out on the water in a boat that can handle some water with the family on board. Duken, I can not waite for him to be old enough to drive the boat. Then I can just kick back and chill with Capt. Michael running the show. :D That is what I used to to for my Father. It was funny, he would get calls from friends asking him if he knew I was using the boat. He would say yes and they would tell him he was nuts :D

Still have it. I really want to finish it but with the building of the house in Maine and all the work we are doing on the house in MA I put it on hold for a while. So this will be the family truckster and the other boat I will now gut completely and make as light as possible.

Nice score. Respect the older Formulas.

My Uncle purchased the same exact model & same graphics new back in 88 (I believe that was the year), it was the first Formula I was ever on and feel in love with them ever since.

Good luck with her....

Nice find. Jealous just a little. 420's are good engines

Splitdecision271 04-17-2009 09:31 AM

best of luck

you'll turn heads, don't know of a Formula that doesn't.

tgrantz 04-21-2009 09:25 PM

damdonzi 04-26-2009 08:28 AM

Belated congratulations Jon. Here's hoping for many hours of trouble free boating. It's a shame you don't know anyone that can help with finding some new drives...:drink:

You are right about that, those 420s are strong. I sold my '88 357 with 420s last summer, and I had 790 hours on the engines, and they were still runnin strong.

Boat ran like a watch today! We got it to almost 70 (on the speedo). Only a few small issues to address. One of the water pick ups is leaking. Not sure if that is going to require a rebed to just seal it up or if the alluminum corroded were the stainless steel pipe threads into it. Belts need some work. The best news of all..... the wife LOVES the boat. :D
