Removing ST Exhaust Box From 1997 382

I was getting ready to remove my ST box from a '97 382. I ordered the external rubber flappers for the tips but now I discovered that the internal flappers on the tips are gone. Will I need them both? The internal flapper brackets are riveted in and tough to get out. CP Performance has replacements but they look a little different. Any advice? Has anyone replaced these?

If you get the good quality external flappers (don't remember the brand name) then you don't need the internal flappers. I think they are Salisbury flappers or something like that.

Salisbury (sp) makes most of them, many are private label.Corsa,Mallory,etc. They all work fine

MagicFloat, I don't mean to beat a dead horse but are you saying that it would be ok to run with just the external flappers? I would like to be sure because it doesn't look like it is very easy to replace the internal flappers and I really don't want to do it if I don't have to. I have purchased rubber clamp on flappers from CP Performance. Thanks for your advice!

You will be fine. The internal flappers were used by Formula because the ST box fills with water. With the box off, external flappers are all you need.
