Fastest 382?
Hi, I am just about to finish with a repower of my 2001 382 F2. I have had alot of people tell me these boats do not like alot of mph and handle like pigs. How fast has a 382 been and what was the ride like. I plan on taking Tres class before pushing it hard but i would like to know what i am getting into. This is not my first performance boat i am just curious. Thanks, I will post some before and after pics of the project.

Thats the responce i was looking for. How fast have you been and with what power?

There was one that I remember seeing that ran 1100's and surface drives ran in the 110 range.....

I'm probably thinking of the same one Maritime is refering to but thought it had 1,200's running around 117 (I'm not sure I have the numbers correct). My 2002 382 had 8 PSI Procharged 500's when I got it...... running 95 before I sold the blowers (reportedly 98 when first built)......handled just fine (they are big heavy pigs ya know!!).

It sounds like i should have no problems getting into the 90's. My boat has no cabin and should be pretty light. Thanks for the input.

I bought it last year at about this time on repo. It was the Tal Marine boat and had been repowered with 496's. After about 15 min one motor spun some mains. I am just finishing up a repower with some turned up 500 HP's. It should be on the water this weekend if not next weekend. I stole the boat and have hardly nothing in it. This is kind of a budget go fast project. I cant wait to get it on the water.
