Guess how much I weigh!

I'm looking at travel trailers and towing weight. I know my truck pulls my boat fine. But not really sure how much it actually weighs. I'll try to stop by a scale close to my house soon. In the mean time.....

Take a guess. I'll send the closest person a prize package not to exceed $5 value. How about a used Formula beverage cooler?

2000 353, 496's, 1/2 tank gas, anchors, tools, cooler, steel tri-axle trailer.

Not at the top of my want list but ................... 12, 850 lbs.

Rippem 07-14-2009 12:56 PM

need to know what brand of trailer?
all steel trailers are not built the same!

Eagles are heavier than most.

I'll take 13180 on an Eagle as described

VtSteve 07-14-2009 01:06 PM

13,553 pounds approximately

He just said closest.

13250. (catch that Rip?)

ImaPoser 07-14-2009 06:57 PM

Crap. I hope it isn't much more than 12K. I was thinking I could pull a 30-32 ft with same power with an excursion. 10K limit. If you're much over that, I need to truck shop before I boat shop.

BowenCT 07-14-2009 08:01 PM

12850

FRMULTR 07-14-2009 08:07 PM

I'll go with 12250. I'd rather have a key float, though.

amazing1 07-14-2009 08:24 PM

i will guess 11500lbs:evilb:

ur2slow 07-14-2009 08:31 PM

i'm thinking 12271 lbs

BL6 07-14-2009 08:42 PM

trailer is very nice, well built Van Guard.
I'll get it weighed this weekend.

That's a lot of weight back there, isn't it? Tows well. Towing a camper ismore like a big sail.

duke252 07-15-2009 07:39 AM

I will definitely be interested in the results. I've got the same boat, and given most tow vehicles max out at 12500 and I was figuring that the boat/fuel/gear/tools/steel trailer were around 13500. I decided to go w/ the F450 and be on the safe side.

However after having the F450 in the shop 6 times in 60 days, I'm not so sure I went on the "safe side":angry-smiley-038:

12377 is where it's at....

Results?

J.B. Marshall 07-30-2009 12:02 PM

13,250

dave krehbiel 07-31-2009 03:19 PM

13100

I put my 382 on a scale with a steel trailer and scared the hell out of me, 14700. I pull it fine with an F-250 though.

Sydwayz 07-31-2009 10:45 PM

$1 dollar!

Dave I did the same thing.... scary when you think about all that weight behind a SRW truck. I towed mine back from the Formula factory w/F250 diesel (800 mls) without any problems.

13,300... results?

Guys, sorry to leave you hanging......weather here in Michigan has been poor every weekend for last month. First cold 2 wkends, then warmer, but quite windy.

I did weigh the Excursion alone, 7240# w/ 1/2 tank. Deducting for myself & toolbox.

We'll see what this weekend brings...........................

BL6 08-15-2009 06:38 AM

Wow - finally a great boating weekend. Hooked up last night & took to scale 1st thing this morning.

RESULTS ARE IN! :flag:

Excursion, 1/2 tank, myself, toolbox, 353, trailer, 1/2 tank, tools, pfds, towels, snacks, no coolers (yet) = 19,500#

Ex & myself = 7,440#

Boat & trailer = 12,060

Then I rolled forward so truck tires were all off the scale but boat was on = 11,220.
So I think that means my TW (tounge weight) is 840# or 7% of boat/trailer. I believe this is on the light side of TW rec's, but has pulled great over many miles.

Still to do;

I'll leave the boat slipped and weigh just the trailer soon.
Fill up truck and boat to calculate exact gallons now & weight. Gas weighs how much per gal?

Lastly do the math to see who's guess was closest!

About 6.2 lbs per gallon. Temperature, type and blend will effect the actual weight +/-5%.
