you came to the wrong forum for this Formula all the way, were a pretty loyal bunch here, you might lose 2/3 mph but you gain alot of stuff like amenities and quality,, it is my understanding that the 353 with 525's is the boat to have, maybe someday I can find out:grinser010:

Plus you aren't hunched over tightening nuts and bolts. I have a 21 yr old 311 that is still in mint condition all original. Formula makes a awesome product everything from the fit and finish .... to the rigging of the boat ..... to ride ..... and the best part you will be in a group of proud owners .... Formula Owners. Regarding the the 496s .... do not be afraid of them ..... of coarse you can always be faster with bigger power ie. 525s ... with the 496s you should be if I am not mistaken in the low to mid 70s all day long. I have a friend with that exact set up. The boat is very reliable. Good Luck with your decision to buy a Formula .... There isn't another brand better for you dollar. Jeff P.S. If you are looking for a little day boat go with the 35' Executioner ..... I have a 311 = 31'11" , 35 Executioner = 32' 4" maybe ..... with tiny cabin .... other then that nice boat. |
As a Formula owner, no matter how much I look at other brands, I keep coming back to all that Formula offers and the overall value it provides.
However, I have to admit the one other brand that I would have to consider is Active Thunder. They're a "custom" builder moreso than a "production" builder so some comparisons just don't apply. And the fact they're built local to me (Pompano Beach, 30mins north of Miami) may provide a little bias. But you won't find a better bang for the buck in a boat with equal quality (and better performance...sshhhhh) and just as great "factory" support. |

I know where that little afterthought was directed!!!!!! And hey, Jeff, what was your first Formula? I don't remember discussing that with you. |
Fast and smooth...Fountain.
Big cabin and large cockpit...Formula. So so cabin and even larger cockpit...Baja |

My kids called their fort. For a little boat this thing got right up and danced .... it would do 55mph on the dream meter. I bought it at the beginning of the summer I bought my 311. I quickly realized it was to small so I stepped up. Fun boat though. Jeff |

I know where that little afterthought was directed!!!!!! Don't we all. :lolhit: I do find it odd however, in that this same thread is in the General, Baja, and Fountain forums that this one is the only one with the negative comments about the "other" brands. Wouldn't comments on 353's be of more value from someone that owns one? My advice to tc 0707 is check out and drive all three boats. Buy the one that puts the biggest smile on your face, that is what it's all about! :D |
