Oil Pan Drain Hoses

Do any of you have the hoses attached to the bottom of your oil pan to drain oil? If so, what size are they and where did you get them? I was going to have them installed last time my engines were out but they were too thick to pull out by bilge drain holes. My engines are out (again) and I would like to install these hoses.

CP sells them. Not sure if they are small enough to come out through the drain plug tho.

So they aren't meant to be pulled thru the bilge drain plugs, they're meant to be connected to a drain pump?

They connect to the drain plug by chain so when you take the plug out you can pull them through the hole.

Check into the hoses that Merc uses on the 525's, actually I think they install them on every engine package these days, they will pull thru the standard size hull drain plugs. Bam Marine site should allow you to find the part numbers.

Thanks for the help guys, that is exactly what I'm looking for.

Hey Rob, What quick connect fittings do you use? Do you have a picture or part number?

I have the hoses to the oil pan, y-block and quick change pump installed in my boat, but have never been able to find a GOOD quick connect for the output side of the pump.

Thanks,
Dave

If you have the engines out, just go to a dipstick setup that goes to the bottom of the pan like this. It has a garden hose fitting at the top of the tube to hook up to a pump. These are Volvo/Innovations, and all the parts are available through Volvo Penta. No tees, quick-disconnects or extra hoses.

I have some that I got when I bought the 525SC's years ago, never used them, but I think they were Aeroquip (sp?). These were some real high end chit, I will look and see if I can find them and if they have #'s on them. Need to find them anyway cause I'm going to move the Merc hoses up to the front of the motors so my pump will pick up all the oil.

The other thing that would work would be the hydraulic connectors for a snow plow. Any plow dealer should have them in stock.

I found the drain hoses at a local boating supply store.....about $25 each. Pull the drain plugs, hoses attached and come right out with them. Twist them open with a wrench and set the open ends in a 5 gallon bucket. Close and refill (+ new filter) the next day.

Dave I went to a place here called Mississippi rubber, they do hydraulic hose and fittings, It has the male end on the hose and the female on the pump hose, they have them in steel lot cheaper, but i like polishing the brass out.I think they were 15.00 for the female 4 years ago

Ill get a close up picture tonight.there in the garage still on stands.
