Thats awesome........Looks like I might have to wait till 2011 to be a 400 owner, unless things come together last minute.:picard1:

Anyone serious about selling a 400 SS or 370 SS? I have a 310 SS seriously for sale as well (see classifieds). The discussion here on diesel vs gas is interesting, but the diesels do get pricey...wish I could do it though.

Can anyone share any color on the used boat market for 400ss?

What is a used 400ss with D6-370's going for these days?

I looked around quite a bit and nobody is giving these away. I found 1-2 advertised by private seller which seemed like good deals but the seller would not return phone calls. I considered boats from far away non-Formula boat dealers but uncovered issues. In the end, I traded my 310 for a 400 that my Wisconsin Formula dealer had in stock (Shipyard Marine). They didn't give it away, but offered a reasonably good deal and have been there to fix/repair all the stuff you find with any new or used boat purchase. I would venture to say the market on a 4-5 year old model, set up in disirable fashion, from a dealer, would be about $225-300k. There could be better deals, but make sure you do lots of due dilligence, and have a plan to deal with possible needs for financing and repairs.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

p.s. If anyone has a line on a used trailer for a 400 SS, please let me know.

That tells you a lot about the re-sale on the diesel boats. A diesel boat with 500 hours is just getting broken in. A gas boat with 500 hours better have some engine (and drive) rebuild paperwork...

I should have said that the 2006 400 SS I purchased has the 496 HO's with Bravo 3X drives. The ballpark price range I mentioned is for gas and diesel, with diesels being on the higher side of the range.

I had found the opinions on whether to go for diesels over 496HO's are evently split. The 400 SS I found worked for me and I didn't consider the 496 HO's a bad thing.

I did blow a drive after owning for about a month, boat has 180 hours. Could just be bad luck. I have heard of the volvo diesel drives failing as well. So who knows.

I recently took a Lake MIchigan trip with six people on board. The girls had enough stuff for a ski trip. Between the coolers, full tanks of fuel and water, etc., it was a full load. We didn't pop up on a plane, but she got there OK. We found running arond 36-42 mph seemed to work great, which I thought was good considering the weight of this boat and the load.

You might find some low priced boats, but after many hours, I learned there are reasons why many of these "great deals" are just sitting around.

Good luck.
