Wow, nice work on the 271.
I also have a 95 271.

I assume yours had a silent thunder box that was removed and replaced with mufflers.
Did you need to replace the thru hull flanges to install the mufflers or did the mufflers in the pic fit over the origionals.
The spouts on my thru hulls have a small lip on the end that would make it hard to seal a muffler against water,

How did you do yours??

Yes, the Silent Thunder box was removed, as well as the original tailpipes. The mufflers that were fitted are the bolt on type that have a 5/16 stud every 120 degrees that requires a hole to be drilled through the transom for each stud. The original cast tailpipes are held to the transom with self tapping screws, and due to their shape, I don't think there is a clamp on/slip on muffler that will work with them.

The holes that the ST box left behind, I used ss carriage bolts with the heads powdercoated white for the transom, and used ss buttonhead cap screws/washers powdercoated white to fill the threaded inserts on the underside of the platform. Also, the studs that hold the ladder down were shortened to keep from harpooning someone.

A couple of pictures to illustrate the explanation.

I bought the Livorsi Momo wheel and had the panels paint matched also got all new gauges from them. Having the sticks chrome powder coated with blue tops and the drive indicator bezel chrome also. I will post more as I get further.

Has anyone in a 1997 replaced there glove box hatch with billet? I was thinking about doing that to improve that side!

I had mine firecoated red to match my dash and bolster I did last year. Easy and does not cost much to do.

Here is a project I did in 2005. It was fun to do. Craig Barry rode on my boat from Mission Bay to San Diego......he said it just needed a little bit more power......Craig is a smart guy. :D

I would be into that deal. I would love to get footage of the Biotch in flight. I have often thought we should try to get a group together and try this. I would be in this in a heartbeat.

P.S. Have cash! :drink:

WOW! Really sweet boat and an awesome video Nort! That was such a great idea to do that, and you had perfect conditions to get almost as much air as the film crew in the helicopter!

Next time though, maybe have two chicks in the back seat of the boat kissing each other at the end of the video  You know... The Formula Lifestyle! :drink:

Something like this HERE?

Obviously this was before the upgrades, otherwise we would have spanked my buddy with the Sunsation w/dry exhaust. Then again.....we managed 75 with 7 people and supplies. :D There is a "directors cut", but I am under oath.

NICE Video! You the Man! I wanna party with you guys :drink: You might not have spanked your buddy's Sunsation that day, but it looks to me like you were spanking some hot chicks! Maybe next time you won't take that silly oath and you'll let that film roll a little longer... :evilb:

I'm doing a redo of my boat right now.....I'm sure I will have plenty of pics and stories to share. :).

Heres before and after shots. I am still wanting to do something with the passenger side, I just don't know what!

Here is my new dash in the 242. I still need to add the oil pressue and temp gauges. Many more upgrades to come. The boat is getting a complete make over including a set of McLeod electric bolsters and new 550 hp bbc.

C_Spray 05-11-2010 12:36 PM

TTT. Since I did such a lousy job of powdercoating the amazing step pad/cupholders that Axapowell made, I'm going to strip them, polish them, and clear-coat them.

Anyone else have new projects coming?

kjm5125 05-11-2010 08:57 PM

I had the Whipple low rise Inner Coolers kit installed on my 575's. I haven't had the boat out yet. I'm very interested in the outcome.....

Alright, I'll throw out a few more! I am still in the process of "tweaking" my most recent projects, but you can see the recent progress.

I decided to update the interior, both cockpit and cabin, of my 1999 / 353 to the more recent version with some of my own personal touches. The pictures DO NOT do the upgrades justice. We haven't had a real sunny day for me to pull the boat outside and take some natural light photos, but I will soon. I'm sure the owners of the newer boats with the carbon fiber dashes will agree, this looks WAY better outside.

So here is what I've done in the last couple of weeks.

1 - Removed the interior of the cabin including the carpet.
2 - Had Larry the Canvas "Guy" (interior guy) re-skin (Formula Factory made skins) and re-carpet the cabin and help me re-install the seats.
3 - Had a new two tone countertop custom made out of Corian and installed it.
4 - Under mounted the sink and changed the facuet set.
5 - Installed a new Alpine Marine stereo head unit with Sirius and a wireless remote.
6 - Installed LED lighting under the valance in the cabin, but left the original lighting as an alterantive. You can switch between LED and the stock lighting with the original switches under the valance.
7 - Replaced the "Mood" lighting, including the Vee-birth panels, with LED lights. (This looks REAL cool!!)
8 - Removed all of the white switches, red gauge bezels, old Pioneer stereo remote, and all white dash panels.
9 - Replaced all of my dash panels with Custom Made Red Carbon Fiber panels from Innotech, Steve Dunning, 314-432-1900. Awesome Job Steve!! Thanks!
10 - All new Polished Stainless Steel gauge bezels and custom made aluminum ignition switch, horn, and stereo bezels.
11 - All new Factory (2010) switches and switch covers including a couple of custom laser engraved (for the stereo remote and GPS speedo recall) covers.
12 - New 2010 Cockpit Carpet with the FasTech Logo and closed cell non-absorbant carpet pad.

I think that's it. Just the steering wheel and sub-woofer left to install, and then a quick buff and polish....should be good to go for the season. A ton of work, but worth all of it!

Here are the before and after photos.

Dave,Axa Beautiful job on the cockpit and dash,it looks outstanding. Is the chrome bezel around the trim/drive indicator available separate,or is it an assembly? Oh, and by the way Kevin/KJM5125 I still think you have one of the best looking 382's ever...:lolhit: (see my avatar):lolhit:

Seperate. I changed out the Merc Racing flush mounted version with the Livorsi Surface mounted one. BTW, this was a MAJOR PIA!!! Those four cables wrestled me to a sweat more than once!!
