It has been a great addition to the boat and anchoring is soooo much easier.

Here is a link to my project page for more details: http://home.comcast.net/~tpenfield/W...or_Locker.html

I have got to do that... I like it alot....great job.

Thank you for the kind words on the anchor locker project. Of all the boat projects that I have done, this one seemed to go the smoothest.

You are welcome. Anchoring a boat properly and having the correct ground tackle to do it is a fundamental part of boating. Seems like most of our "go Fast" rigs are lacking in that department mostly because they were never designed with an anchor locker...HELLO...you just did a well engineered addition to your boat that I am sure makes it a lot easier "drop the hook" with out going through a bunch of gymnastics.

Thanks for sharing.

I added a ladder on the port side of the cockpit so I can step over the side glass to get on the bow.

There is no good way to get to the bow to handle the anchor or bow lines...or even lay out.

I had this ladder made up out of aluminum tubing and put a stainless step plate below the side glass...attached to the gunwale and the bow rail. It works very well.

I have one of the rare 382's with the Innovation/Volvo Penta 600 engines. I stopped by Innovation a few weeks ago and noticed a pair of engine covers made for the personal boat of Volvo Penta's CEO. A little sweet-talking later, and they showed up on my front porch yesterday FOC! I'm getting them repainted to match the engine colors exactly. They will cover the engine from the heat exchanger all the way back to the oil cooler, and give them a restomod/custom look. According to the VP guys, these are the only two shrouds ever made. :)

...and I added some OPTX Marine LED strips to the underside of the engine hatch. Now that I have lights over the engines, I will never need then because I had engine issues in the dark. These self-adhesive LED strips are available at West Marine. I think that this brings my list of modifications into the 3-digit category. (And, YES - I will re-install the mirrors...)

Im most proud of the Stereo...crazy loud and clear. All Polk audio, 2 10 inch subs, 4 6x9's 2 6 in mid ranges in the cabin. I will post pics of the cabin when I get them, complete custom change for this season.

If they had blinged it up on the motors maybe they would have sold more to keep it going!!!! Super that you got those!

Those covers are definately an updated modern look. Awesome touch to the old bird. They really look fabulous!!!

Anyone???

axapowell 01-26-2013 07:00 AM

Come on Nort...You know how we are here in the East.

We keep it quiet until the official unavailing!

Really not too much at this end. Freshing up the power and a few more interior panels that I need to have done and then the boat will be pretty good. Running out of ideas, may be time to upgrade boats!

Are you talking about the bilge step? The material comes that way.

Sounds good Dave! You know.......I still have no cup holders in those billet step plates. I originally called Diamond (the guy you mentioned) and they were delivered from Eddie Marine and don't fit the step. Any suggestions?

buckknekkid 01-26-2013 12:02 PM

bilge step

Yes, mine came with some pretty rank plywood and there are lots of new things going into the bilge, so I need a new style Diamond plate configuration to hold a group 30 battery box , tool box , props etc.

Maybe it was the bling factor but drive failures behind those 600's was a problem then too. Several of those boats didn't make it out of warranty, or even the first year, before drive claims had to be dealt with so who boat builder wants to deal with issues like that? I wonder if that was more of a driver than the bling? Just look at Merc's new bragging point, the 565. That is nothing more than a stroked 502 which is what the 600's are.

I think Volvo was ahead of the curve with the 600's in 2000 but the market and drive situation was not ready for that power the way that is was paired up. The 565 is paired with XR's and drive showers but failures are inevitable. I guess as long as the failure is outside of the warranty Merc does not care.

These stroker motors need paired up with some Imco extremes or NXT to keep drives alive.

I really like those Volvo 600's a lot and would love the chance to buy one of those boats. I don't have the money for a 565 but for me a Volvo 600 is the same or better thing.

Yup! Still Kicking...(and screaming!) Been a pretty busy fall and winter for me. Several projects going on and yes some do include the boat! Freshening up the power and looking at options for the cockpit. Might just replace all of the vinyl, it's really not too bad, but lots of suntan lotion helped turn the white a little off. I'll see how the time divides up between that, work and other things...

Things are looking pretty nice for all of your upgrades (everyones!)

Dave

Vinyl is what I haven't had to replace yet (outside). Actually, it's the only thing I haven't besides the carpet. LOL :D :D :drink:

The cups I have measure 4.355 "lip" diameter..........BUT the machine plates only have a diameter of 4.312. That is the problem......plates not made to fig the cup holders.

Since we have ALL added a little "Bling" to our boats, how about we share the thoughts and ideas with other owners. They are all here across the Formula Forum, but a quick overview of each specific project, and a couple of shots can't hurt!

Put the model of your boat in the description, then post a brief overview of the project and include a couple of pictures to share. Then answer the usual Q & A.

The best compliment anyone can and will pay, is an upgrade from your idea!

Dave
